[Sophia]
The next morning, I got straight to work. With all the ideas and concept work I've scribbled down into various notebooks, I thought today would be the perfect day to execute them. I packed my notebooks in my satchel, got dressed and headed out to the tree house. The second I stepped out the door, I noticed the air was slightly warmer. I quickly shook the thought out of my mind, not wanting to distract myself and hopped over the fence and into the grove.
I pulled out one of my notebooks and flipped to a certain page, looking it over as I walked along. I noticed I made a few... grammatical errors in the notes I made, but it didn't really matter. When I made it to the tree house, everything was quiet. I did wake up a little earlier than usual, so everyone must still be asleep. I walked to the edge of the tree line and glanced over at Teri's pond. From where I was standing, I couldn't see through the pond very clearly, but I didn't see her moving around. I wouldn't have been surprised if she was still asleep. I continued my path deeper into the forest until I came upon the Moonflower shrub.
Well, more like an entire bush now. There were far more flowers growing on thick, blue vines, but they were all closed up. Even the umbrella stand I made to shade them was getting wrapped up and bent from the creeping vines. Looking around the area, I noticed why the Twins were so easily worried about this before. This thing was starting to get a little out of control. There were some spots where the light of the sun could easily touch them. And I couldn't move the umbrella anywhere else to shade them, unless I want the spot where it's standing now to be just as exposed.
I didn't think I could move it anyway because of how wrapped up it was in the vines. I'm glad I decided to get this done today.I looked at my notes one last time while looking the Moonflower bush up and down. I thought for a long while. Until I finally nodded, slapped my notebook shut, put it away in my bag and swapped it out for my paintbrush instead.
About an hour or so later, I was walking back to the tree house whilst carrying something in my hands. When I made it to the area, I glanced over at Teri's pond again, but she didn't seem to have moved. But up on the platform of the tree house, I spotted the Twins sitting close to each other with the large green blanket wrapped around both their shoulders. Their hair was ruffled and they stared off into the distance with a sleepy look on their faces. They must've just gotten up.
They saw me approaching and I smiled as they noticed.
"Hey, Sophie..." they both yawned. "You're up early today. What are you doing?"
"Oh, well, I thought I might get to work on some of the ideas I showed you yesterday." I explained.
"Ohh... what's that you're holding?" they asked.
I couldn't climb up to the platform with what I was holding, so I unfolded my wings and pushed myself off of the ground and hovered in the air until I felt my feet touch the wooden base. The Twins shuffled to the edge to give me some room to land.
"Here, come over here." I motioned to them as I walked inside the tree house. I nudged one of the beanbag chairs into the furthest corner to make some room as the Twins crawled inside. I sat down on the floor and set the large glass case down in front of me. The glass was stained black. The Twins sat on either side of each other and eyed the strange object carefully.
"Sophie, what is this?"
"Well, I know you were talking about moving the Moonflower shrub somewhere where it could continue growing and stay out of the light. And, um... I made some ideas and after a while... I was finally able to make this."
"You... moved the Moonflower shrub?"
I nodded, "Yeah. Don't worry, it's all in there. I just shrunk it so it could fit inside this. I wanted to make sure I made the case big enough where it could still grow, but now it's more... compact, so it's easier to take care of it." I explained.
The Twins leaned forward and stared at the glass case.
"I don't see anything." they said.
"Um, yeah... I painted the glass black so absolutely no light would get into it. Not completely though. But this way, you can move it wherever and the sunlight won't kill it. Or any amount of light. And actually, if you look really closely..." I leaned forward and stared through the glass. The Twins continued to stare until they finally caught sight of something and I saw their eyes widen.
From within the dark glass, there were small dots of white glowing softly. But instead of just one flower buried in the dirt underneath the bush, the entire bush and bits of the ground around it were crawling with vines filled with blooming flowers.
"I think it might be easier to see at night because it's still bright out here. But if it gets any bigger, I can fix the case so it still has plenty of room to-" I was immediately cut off when the Twins both launched themselves at me in a large embrace. The blanket fell off their shoulders and I almost fell over on the floor.
Their... affection was actually starting to crush me. But they let go just before I stopped breathing and looked at me with their wide eyes.
"Sophie this is amazing!"
"It's perfect"
"You're a genius!"
"You have no idea how much this means to us!" they chimed in turn before they hugged me again. I had a strained smile on my face from them crushing my ribs and from knowing they were happy with my creation. They finally let me go and took the case up to one of the shelves on the wall so it could sit in a better position. Now they could watch over it more closely and look at it whenever they needed to. They thanked me again, and I told them I wasn't exactly finished yet.
