"Sash?" Kai gently rubbed Sasha's arm who was facing her while still deep in her sleep on the passenger seat.

She took a deep breath and took her time watching her friend sleep. The sight of her somehow made her heart ache again. Sasha had that power on her. She exhaled slowly while she stared at her. Then she looked outside the window.

Their arrival was right on time for the sunrise. The misty Northern California air brushed against Kai's face. She loved the cool morning breeze that is a mixture of the country and ocean air.

She opened the car door and got out as quietly as possible. She wanted Sasha to get as much rest as she needed.

The moment Kai stepped out of the car, she was greeted with a brush of wind that engulfed her whole body. It was definitely freezing, but she loved every moment of it. It also helped that she was ready for the weather and had on a thick sweater. Then she slowly inhaled, filling her lungs with the fresh misty air. The chill gave her whole body the goosebumps, and she couldn't get enough of it. She thought there was nothing like the air you get to breathe when you're miles away from the city. She walked further from the car and took in the spectacular view of the mountains. Then she slowly closed her eyes, allowing herself to get lost in the moment. She listened to the birds chirping, going about their day making use of the crack of dawn to find their first meal of the day. She loved it here. She took her time filling her senses with the relaxing atmosphere. She could even taste the saltiness of the ocean which was not far away from where they were. In fact, when you listen closely, you could hear the roaring waves of the Pacific Ocean. Immediately, Kai was put in a state of relaxation. This was home away from home. This was her escape.

Meanwhile, back in the car, Sasha started to stir. It was still a bit dark but a hint of light was starting to appear in the sky. She looked around and got up fairly quickly that she felt a little woozy.

"Kai? Her heart started pounding when Kai wasn't in the car with her. "Kai," she called again while she freed herself from the belt that was keeping her on the seat. She looked around, her pulse raising every second. "Kai!" She called out while she hurriedly got out of the car.

"Good morning," Kai greeted her with a smile.

Sasha's shoulders slumped while she held her chest. "Walang hiya ka, tinakot moko," she claimed after she exhaled a breath of relief. "Akala ko iniwan mo nako in the middle of nowhere eh."

Kai couldn't help but laugh. "Hindi ako yung mga pasyente mong sinasabi mo na nag-aabandona sayo. And you think kung ganun yung intensyon ko, dito pa talaga kita iiwan? Sa magandang lugar pa talaga? Kung balak kita iwan, sa cementerio kita iiwan, hindi dito."

Sasha let out a nervous laugh, "Cemetery kaagad? Grabe sya."

Kai laughed with her. "Oo, tapos mag-tatago ako sa malapit na puno while nakasuot ako ng puting damit tapos magpapakita ako sayo. Pag naka-sigaw ka na't lahat-lahat, maybe even peed your pants, sisigaw ako ng isang malaking, 'Ishaaapraaaank!!!'"

Sasha's eyes widened. "Aba at may pagka-salbahe ka palang nilalang ka, ano?"

Kai snorted out another laugh.

Sasha shook her head, "Salbahe."

Kai bobbed her eyebrows. "Magsi-si-labasan talaga mga baho natin sa trip na toh, so be ready."

"Ay," Sasha scratched her head. "Speaking of baho. Good morning nga pala. Ayoko muna lumapit sayo, may morning breath pako."

Kai rolled her eyes. "Eh ako wala?"

Sasha laughed. "Di ko sinabi yun."

Kai's eyes widened this time. "Ganun kabaho yung hininga ko na naamoy mo kahit malayo ako?" She covered her mouth and couldn't help but feel embarrassed.
