We are conditioned to believe that if someone says "I won't be enough for you," we simply need to expect less. We try harder to make ourselves smaller and begin to accommodate their needs before our own.

When someone says they are not enough for us, what they are really saying is they're unwilling to put in the effort to rise to our standards. They are not going to try to participate in the life and expectations we have set.

If someone says they're not enough for you, take them at their word. They will never be enough for you and you deserve someone who strives to meet you at your highest level.
