HBO Shares Confirmation Of BLACKPINK's Jennie's & Julie's Appearance In The Weeknd's New Series "The Idol"

July 17, 2022

After a month of speculation, it looks as though Jennie and Julie, from BLACKPINK, will be appearing in the upcoming HBO series "The Idol"!

Last month, it was reported that the two had been offered roles in the new series, which was created by The Weeknd and "Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson. The show will tell the story of a pop singer (played by Lily-Rose Depp) who strikes up a romance with an enigmatic cult leader (played by The Weeknd).

Although YG Entertainment has yet to confirm both girls' castings, eagle-eyed fans immediately spotted them in the first teaser trailer for the series when The Weeknd premiered it at his concert on July 16 local time.

Today, on July 18 at 10 a.m. local time, HBO tweeted a photo of Jennie and Julie on set with the caption, "Jennie Kim and Julie Zhang have been cast in #THEIDOL."

the show looks like toilet though. definitely missing it by a whole mile. happy for jennie and julie but this is not it. at all.

i agree, i was horrified by the trailer, but it seems this is exactly what they're going for. if any kpop idol can pull a show like that it should be any of the girls from blackpink, but it's definitely not for everyone.

tbh i agree. i feel like they both can pull it off, however, i think the concept isn't just very them. plus, if it's by the creator of euphoria, then we all know what it's going to be about. not only that, but the we know jennie and julie are the idols that get most hate, and they're probably gonna get a lot more for acting in something this controversial.
