(A/N, little bit of a shorter one, but please just be glad it's here okay hehegeh have fun🫶🙏)

A soft moan left my lips as I sat up. I looked around the room. We were back at home, and she'd put me in my bed and changed my clothes.

"Listen, babydoll,"

I turned my head to look over at Cleo.

"This is hard for you, I know. But...it is for me, too," she started, "I don't like seeing you so dependent on me. You don't need me all the time, Marine. You can do things by yourself, I know that,"

I looked down with a small sigh.

"You agreed that you'd go to therapy. For you and for me."

"I'm trying," I replied.
"I know."

"Do you?" I looked back up at her, my eyes wide.

"That was the only time I'd done it for weeks...I'd gone through sessions without feeling completely miserable without you for weeks. Yet, the only time it was ever talked about is when I'm being scolded. I never got congratulated." I whispered.

Cleo looked at me, sudden compassion washed over her face, and she sighed.
"I'm sorry, babydoll, I am. I didn't know you felt like that. That's my fault," she told me.

"I am proud of you."

Letting go of my tight grip on the covers, I crawled over to her and settled myself into her arms. Cleo kissed the top of my head and stroked my hair.

"You're not mad?" I asked.
"I'm rarely ever mad at someone as adorable as you." She smiled softly, looking down at me.

"I love you more." I whispered, holding back a smile.

"Don't start with me. You know I'll win."

We lay there for a while, finding silent comfort in each other's presence. Until I gently grabbed her arm, too nervous to break the silence.

"Yes?" She opened her eyes and peered down at me.

"Is it okay if I ask something random?"

"Why are you asking if it's okay to ask something random?"

I paused, trying to comprehend her sentence. Before giving her a small smile.

"Do...any other creatures exist?"
"You mean other than vampires?"

I slowly nodded.

Cleo sighed. "I'm not sure,"

"Aren't you supposed to know?"

"No one's sure. The government has only just confirmed the existence of vampires," she explained.

"A long time ago, there were signs of life from ghouls."

"Ghouls?"

"They eat everything. The bones, flesh, organs, all of it,"
My eyes widened.

"But there were so few of them, they wouldn't go out in public. It's assumed they died from starvation. No one knows for sure."

"The government hasn't said a word?"

She lightly shook her head in response.

"If there are any out there..." She whispered, "They could kill our most powerful vampire in seconds. They're incredibly strong. No mortal would ever be able to compete."

"Then why didn't they go out in public? Why would they let themselves die?"

"I'm not sure. My father saw one once, he told me about it when I was little."
"You never told me any of this," I responded.
