Just another reminder in case you guys have forgotten—I changed Maruca's last name from Chebotta (how do you even spell it??) to Endal because I was lazy. Only the last name changed, so she and Wylie aren't siblings or anything.

Yes, I did get the idea for the chapter name from Your Throne.

Quick update, actually. I've been meaning to edit the chapters from before, because of minor plot holes (like the number of days between incidents) but I don't want to dislodge the comments that you guys have left me. I've decided to split each chapter into two sections: the original chapter, and the edited version. I'll keep both, and clearly mark each one, and I think it'll be a cool way to see my writing improve (if it does lol). Welp, just to let you know.

Uh for those of you who didn't see the update I posted earlier, I made a discord server for my fanbase!! (Woah that sounds weird and oddly entitled-)

The link is in the comments on my profile!

Happy reading~

Time travel? Sophie fired at Disc. Does it have something to do with the Elys?

IT'S A POSSIBILITY, Disc agreed, slightly annoyed by the onslaught of questions. YOU ONCE FOUGHT AN ELYS WITH THE POWER TO CONTROL TIME.

Fayn and Elen sat there, still looking disoriented, as Gisela cooed more sugar coated sweet words.

The chains that held Sophie against the tunnel rattled as she tried moving her arms. Sticky blood poured out of the gunshot wound in her hand, traveling down and soaking the sleeve of her shirt.

Shouldn't've worn white, she thought mournfully.

"Now, please tell me," Gisela said, leaning closer to Elen. "What do you remember?"

"Huh?" The blonde operator moved backwards a little, scooting towards Fayn. "What do you mean?"

"What's the last thing you remember?"

"Giselaa~" Sophie whined, before either suspected time traveler had a chance to speak. The Neverseen was not going to gain information about the future before she did. "I thought you were going to let me out of here!"

Vespera raised the gun threateningly. "I can make a matching hole in your other hand, Ales."

"Really?!" Sophie gasped, an expression of euphoria lighting up her face. "You mean it? Oh, it's Christmas!"

Gisela moved away from Fayn and Elen, stalking closer to Sophie. Gripping Sophie's chin, the older woman glared. "Ales, shut up. I'm in the middle of something."

Sophie smiled. "What was that again? Sorry, my memory isn't great!"

The slap resounded across the tunnel.

Sophie's head hit the wall again.

Gisela drew a thin pocket knife from her sleeve, and put the tip against Sophie's neck. "I can kill you right here, if necessary."

"And risk loosing the only leverage you have in Phoenix?"

"And kill one of my opponents in the game," Gisela corrected. "You're not using your chess piece against me, so I won't gain any points, but I'll at least get rid of some of the competition."

A tiny stream of red trickled down her throat, and Sophie chuckled. "You won't kill me."

"You're right," Gisela murmured. The knife dragged upwards, lightly brushing skin, until it was under Sophie's eye.
