"Are you fucking kidding me right now?" Shelby barged into my room, her voice sharp and angry.

I continued folding my clothes for the suitcase, ignoring her dramatic entrance.

"You had my office investigated?" She asked again, and I slowly turned to face her.

"I had to. After discovering you've been dipping into the company's funds, I had to see what else you're hiding."

She shot me an irritated look and scoffed.

"You never stop, do you? When will you ever realize there are four more of us in this family that shares the same DNA and not everything belongs to you because you're the only son?"

I squinted at her, her words stinging.

"It's a good thing you're leaving. It'll be nice to finally prove myself to Dad without you always in the way."

I chuckled and crossed my arms.

"Don't think that just because I'll be away doesn't mean I won't keep an eye on you. I hope you'll learn something from this investigation."

She shot me an icy glare and took a step closer.

"I'm smarter than you think."

"I doubt that."

She scoffed and looked at the ceiling.

"I know what's best for the company. Even if I have to use some unconventional methods, it'll benefit the family. But you, 'perfect Shawn Falcon,' always have to be right, always have to take credit at work, always have to be in control. You're just greedy and selfish. You think you're the only smart one, but you can't accept that your sisters can do better than you. You're a selfish piece of..."

"Get out," I interrupted.

She stopped, seething with anger, and glared at me.

"I said get out!" I yelled again, and she finally stormed out.

It was the first time I had raised my voice at her, surprising even myself. Shelby knew how to push my buttons, and I often wondered how we ended up as siblings in this world. If she had been born as my business rival instead, I might have been happier.

I tossed the pills into my mouth and grabbed the glass of water on the nightstand, washing them down.

One thing I liked about these pills was how they sealed the door to my depression, which always threatened to consume me, especially after a fight with Shelby or under pressure from my father.

They worked fast, and as I felt my body relaxing, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

At least I wouldn't need these pills on vacation. I was looking forward to some relaxation and fun since I wouldn't be working.

Plus, Shay would be with me, and that made it even more exciting.
