CHAPTER 17

ALICE ROMANO

After a few minutes Nona breaks the hug and Noah smiles at us and leaves the room.

We sit on the bed I wait for her tears to stop but she really seems like she is sad I know It is about my past but I don't want to see her like this.

"Its okay please stop crying" 

She sniffles and tries to suppress her tears.

"I- I am happy that you are finally with us. All of us are happy to have you back with your family, we really missed you il mio bambina" She says wiping her tears

(My baby- il mio bambina)

I smile at her. She is really beautiful b-

"When you were a child you loved your Nono very much whenever he was near you, you were always with him and you were his favourite. When we got to know that you have arrived he was really happy but now I don't know where he disappeared"

If he loves me then he may not be the man from the basement or maybe he didn't like me and then wanted me gone?

Or maybe he was just acting to like me when I was a child.

"Does he really like me?"

 she took my hands in hers and said"Ofcourse he loves you bambina you are the only girl child of Romano family your Nono always wanted a daughter but we weren't blessed with a girl but we are blessed to have a beautiful nipotina." 

(nipotina- granddaughter)

" I am really happy to know that my grandparents love me, I want to meet him but I am just scared"

"Its okay he can wait till you are comfortable he will understand. "

I nod.

"Now are you eating your chocolates like you used to ? I think you shouldn't eat many chocolates now please take care of your health." Nona says

"No I didn't have any chocolates my brothers didn't give me any" I say sadly 

"what sweets did you eat then?" 

I shake my head 'no'

" not even cakes? brownies?" she asks

"No " I say "but I had a chocolate once"

" You loved sweets when you were a child. Give me a minute." she says and texts someone 

"Is everything alright?" I ask 

"yes bambina, I used make a lot of candies for you. So I thought to bring those candies for you." she says hesitantly 

" YES"

"Noah is bringing them"

A few seconds later there is a knock at the door and I know it is my lovely brother Noah who is bringing me sweet candies.

"Come in Noah" Nona says

He comes in and smiles at us passing Nona a bag.

"Here" she gives me some candies

I pop a candy in my mouth it was a very delicious candy "Nona it is very tasty can I have more?" 

She nods happily

There was a knock at the door I turn towards Noah and panic

Noah holds my hand and tries to calm me down

I forgot about closing the door when Noah came in. Who is it? 

Is it the man from the basement is he going to take me away from my family?

Is it really him?

There was a pleasant  spicy and woody fragrance  in the room and I relax knowing it is not that man. 

Noah relaxes a little but doesn't leave my hand.

I turn towards the door and see an old man around 70 years old standing in the doorway. 

He is handsome and looks a little scary. 

As our eyes meet he gives me a small smile which makes me happy 

Is this Nono?

"Uh There is an emergency we need to leave." he says turning towards nona

"What's wrong Stephen?" Nona asks worriedly 

He starts to answer nona but their voices get muffled and a few memories 

*flashback*

I was running around the house playing with Nate and Issac when suddenly the front door opens and nono comes in 

I rush to him and hug him "Hello my principessa" 

"Hello bello how are you?" he laughs at the name 

"Am I bello now?" he asks  (bello-handsome) 

I nod

" Mio tesero" he kissed my cheeks "la mia bella principessa" 

(mio tesero -my  treasure) ( la mia bella principessa- my beautiful princess ) 

I hug him.

 I blink my eyes as nona and nono were about to leave 

I get up from my bed and hug bello he stills for a few seconds

"bello"  I cry in his arms 

he wraps his hands around me tightly 

We stay like that for a few minutes before he pulls away and kisses my cheeks 

I smile at him. "I missed you bella. Do you remember me?"

I nod

"I think we should leave now amore" Nona says

"yes everyone is waiting for us downstairs." he looks at me and says " I want to stay by your side but we have an emergency but you can call me whenever you like." 

I smile at him. he hugs me and says in my ear "you can even call me if one of my grandsons are irritating you." 

he pulls away and winks at me. 

"ok bello"

"It must be a long and tiring day for you, you should rest now" 

Nona hugs me.

"don't eat them all together and take care." she says

"okay nona you too" I say

"bye bella" 

I wave at him "bye bello" 

They leave the room holding hands.

"I am really happy that you remember nono and you are regaining your memories" Noah says

"Thank you Noah" 

"I am going downstairs lock your room I will come back after they leave" 

He leaves and I lock the door as he said.

I didn't know I had a family who loved me so much. 

But the man from the basement is from the family too, this means someone from the family also hates me. 

I hide the remaining candies in the drawer. 

But I have also met majority of them except uncles and aunts 

I know it was a man in the basement so it can't be my aunts.

Does it mean one of the uncles hate me so much?

Will he try to send me back to the basement.

Will Noah always be with me?
