CHAPTER 30

ALICE ROMANO

"I got a little bit of my memory back " I start

Ace smiles " do you remember anything about us?" he asks 

I shake my head "No I don't but I have a few questions to ask and a few things to share" 

His smile disappears "You can tell me anything you want" 

"I- I will just tell you a few things I remember first" I say

He leans forward keeping his elbows on his table. He nods 

"So I just remember some one who was close to me helped me so much and he was there whenever I needed him" I say

"He? Can  I know who is this ?" he asks

"He is my brother San" I say 

He frowns "You don't have any brother named San Magnolia. Maybe this wasn't a memory." he says 

Will he not believe me now. A tear escapes my eye and I wipe it off

 "No  Ace it is a memory. He is not a brother for you he is my brother. He has saved me and protected me. "

"Saved?" 

I nod trying to not cry now. "yeah" I whisper

"Can I ask you what I wanted to ask?" he nods

"Did you guys- did my brothers abandon me?" I ask 

"No princess we can't do that to our only baby sister, we didn't know that would happen, we didn't know anything about you leaving us that day" he says 

"I didn't leave on my own Ace" I say

"I know" he says

"D-did our mother not like me?" I ask

He looks at me for a second "No she did like you but she was a little strict" he says

"oh"  I say

"Why do you ask this? Is there something you remember about her?" he asks

"No I only remember about San and only he can tell me now what happened." 

"Are you sure you don't remember anything else?" he asks me skeptically 

I smile and nod 

"Can I meet him Ace? I want to meet him Please" I request him

"Yes you can meet him but I will meet him-" Ace says but gets cut off by his phone ringing 

He speaks to the person and says "Magnolia I am sorry but I need to go it is urgent" 

I nod and hug him making him surprised and leave his office 

I go to the library and try to find a good book to read 

I find a nice book  sit at the corner near the window and start reading it.

A quiet knock on the door makes me realize its been a while I have been reading this awfully interesting book. 

I go to the door and opening it revealing it to be Ava 

"Hi Ava, is there something I can help you with" I ask

"hi dear yes I was sent by Mr. Romano to call you to have lunch it's past 2" she says 

"Oh I am sorry I didn't realize the time give me a minute please" I say 

I put the book on the spot where I sat folding the paper where I have to continue.

"Let's go" I say to Ava

we walk silently until I break the silence "Who called me for lunch?" I ask 

"It was Steve" she says 

"oh" I say and we head to the dining area

"Good afternoon " I whisper

"Good afternoon figlia" Father says 

figlia- daughter

I smile at him and sit at my chair, Ava brings me the food 

"Thanks Ava" I say 

We quietly eat food. I look up at him to see he is staring at me.

I give him a small smile "Have a good day" 

I leave before he could reply and go to the library to read the remaining book

2 hours later I am done with my book I go and place the book back at its place and go to my room. 

Entering my time I realize there is still time to get ready for the dinner, going to my bed and shut my eyes for a bit. 

Suddenly my door is opened with a bang I sit up and look to see it is Nate and Issac giving me apologetical smiles 

"Hi how are you both" I ask 

"hi sorella we are good how are you did you have your lunch?" Nate asks as he sits on the bed beside me 

"I am fine. I did have my lunch " I smile at him

Issac is still standing at my doorway "Issac come on in" 

"Yeah I was just thinking a few things sorry" he comes and sits on my other side

"Can you guys help me in choosing the dress for the dinner?" I ask them 

"Sure " Nate says I look at Issac to see he is lost in his thoughts again.

I can't see him like this. I hope everything is fine with him 

"Issac" I call him 

"yes bambina" 

"Can you please help me with Nate?" I ask him 

"yeah I will definitely help you in whatever you say bambina"  He says giving me a smile which looks really fake 

They help me choose my dress and the other things.

I get dressed in a beautiful black jumpsuit and black shoes keeping my hair open.

"How do I look " I ask them 

"gorgeous" Nate says with a smile 

"You look really pretty bambina" Issac says

STEVE ROMANO' POV  

"have a good day" Alice says 

I was about to answer but see my daughter heading upstairs.

How much longer should I wait to hug my daughter to speak to her like I do with her brothers. Yes I regret a few things I have done but I don't know when this  giving her space as Ace said it will end.

I wish I would hug her and I live my life with her I don't want to miss more than I already have. 

If it wouldn't be for Ace I would try to talk to her more. I would try my best to mend whatever has ruined. But Ace has given me a warning as a brother AND as a capo 

I can't do anything I just have to wait for this misery to be over.
