A little while ago I watched the first season of the anime and read all the way through and dare I say: It. Was. FIRRRE! This is definitely one of the best new gen stuff I have seen thus far. Like it was generally amazing to in ways I will explain later though it only has 4 story arcs in those story arcs Hell's Paradise managed to deliver great story, actions, and characters and today I'm going to give you guys my thoughts on Hell's Paradise. Now before we get into the review I feel like I should this chapter will contain SPOILERS and especially MANGA SPOILERS so please proceed with caution you have been warned. Anyways without further ado let's get started.

Let's start with the plot. The plot was one of the most interesting parts in the series, it's about a cold blooded ninja named Gabimaru the Hollow who was sentenced to death for serial murder and was about to be executed, with nothing left to lose having no reason to want to keep living, and accepting his fate Gabimaru showed no resistance without hesitation. Despite that though the executioners could not kill the death row convict as he's survived every attempt to execute him. Gabimaru claims to a female reporter that he doesn't want to live and that he's more than ready to die, but later on he would soon learn that the reporter he was talking to was actually Yamada Asaemon Sagiri a samurai from the Yamada clan this would cause Gabimaru to resist to which even he doesn't understand. Sagiri reveals that Gabimaru is lying about wanting to die pointing out that he has a wife to return to the same wife who taught Gabimaru the values of humanity, and accepted an offer to travel to a mystical island believed to be Shinsenkyō and retrieve the legendary Elixir of Life so he can be pardoned and return home though he'd have to play by the rules that if he acts out Sagiri would execute him and the same goes for the other convicts. However it turns out the island they were on is a completely dangerous placed filled with monsters, poisonous animals, and even nonhuman and immortal monsters known as the Tensen with all the dangerous they face Gabimaru, Sagiri, alongside other convicts and executioners have to work together to defeat these threats. First off the plot is very interesting like the idea of a convicted convict let along one that's on death row work with someone who is in the system especially an executioner is honestly insane to think about and is a very interesting concept I actually like it. It was a pretty great dynamic especially between Gabimaru and Sagiri.

And speaking of the characters all of them are pretty awesome. First off is Gabimaru our main protagonist, I really like his character his backstory is pretty tragic as and just shows how life as a ninja can be very terrifying especially in anime like if you thought Naruto's backstory of growing up without parents who died curtesy of Obito using the Nine Tails to attack the village on the day of his birth and was outcast by his village all because he was the host of the Nine Tails the very same Nine Tails that attacked their village on the day of his birth or Sasuke growing up a normal life until Itachi slaughtered the Uchiha clan seemingly for an evil reason and want revenge only to find out that Itachi was simply acting in the orders of corrupted officials like Danzo making you feel that pain all over again if you thought both of those stories are tragic well let me tell you this you haven't seen shit yet. Gabimaru originally named Tsuki was born to two loving parents who tried to lead a normal and abandon life as shinobi unfortunately they were caught by the Iwagakure Chief who killed them for treason. He then took Gabimaru and made spend the rest of his childhood into a heartless killing machine going through brutal training experiences where he was renamed Gabimaru the Hollow and became feared by many due to his assassination tactics. Gabimaru was heartless until he met a woman named Yui who was the Chief's daughter. Yui taught him the values of humanity and love and the two eventually got married and despite going on brutal assassination missions most of which involved massacres, Yui was always there to soften his heart. However things took a drastic change for the worse, Iwagakure betrayed him and was sentenced to death as a result, he lost the will to live until he was given an opportunity to go on a mission so he could see his wife again which takes us to the main story. Gabimaru's backstory was really dark to say the least and I've seen that stuff before being forced into a lifestyle at a young age and then as the series progresses he grows from being a heartless ninja to a caring person who is willing to go to any lengths to protect his friends which is really awesome to see and is one of those unique time of reluctant heroes. In story telling there are two types of heroes willing and reluctant willing are those who have selfless and heroic ever since the beginning whereas reluctant are those who don't start off that way as they started off being selfish and uncaring. Unlike willing heroes like Naruto, Ichigo, Luffy, Deku, Tanjiro, and Asta, Gabimaru started off cold-hearted and it wasn't until the story goes on that he learned to care for others and unlike most reluctant heroes like Yusuke and Jotaro who were just simply just juvenile delinquents with cold and arrogant personalities and the choices they made to prior the main story were their choices and theirs alone, Gabimaru didn't have a choice as he was raised to be as cold, emotionless, and murderous as can be and was force to go on missions without knowing the values of what humanity and is essentially brainwashed and is it what makes Gabimaru one of those unique type of reluctant hero as he was never given the opportunity of what his personality should be since birth. Moving on to the deuteragonist we have Yamada Asaemon Sagiri. Sagiri was just your average privileged rich kid being born as an heiress to the Yamada clan however much like other privileged kids like Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact 3rd, Sagiri's life was not that great as she was outcast from society due to her status as a Yamada a clan that us known for them being executioners which lead ti her being a victim of bullying, and when she tried to become an executioner herself she was still looked down upon by her fellow clan members even by her own father Kichiji. Even as an executioner Sagiri's darkness of the times she's executed convicts and it continues to hunt her but upon seeing Gabimaru in action she learned to conquer her fears and even encouraged Gabimaru to be strong. I love Sagiri arc in the journey and shows that clearly not all executioners are as happy with executions as people make it out to be, I also like how she is a strong woman but is handled much better, several women in fiction nowadays especially the western entertainment industry in America has always depicted strong women with no flaws boss people around and put men aside for the sake of politics and feminism especially characters who are race swapped and uglified and flat out badly written. But that is not the case for characters like Sagiri yes she is outcasted because of her gender but she doesn't become all girl boss and basically knows about everything she learns and grows and has a complex story. I also like her dynamic with Gabimaru she has great dynamic with him. We also have characters like Yuzuriha I thought she was a pretty interesting character I thought she was pretty funny she made me laugh whenever I see her but I also like how deep within that smile is a girl who lost her younger sister which moulded her into the person she is today. The cast of characters are by far some of the most interesting they have so many relitable and compelling backstories. Outside of Gabimaru, Sagiri, and Yuzuriha I also have favorites with Mei, the Aza brothers, gigachads like Gantetsusai, Nurugai, Tenza, and Shion. All of those guys are just amazing in their own right and there dynamic is really amazing.
