Unfair Truth

As a young plus size person of color,
we always come last.
Not being the first or second pick of the litter.
Treated differently with less respect.
Being used for just a warm body by those who deemed you less than "perfect."
I grew up hating the color of my skin trying to hide from the sun,
the texture and curls of my hair burning it,
just to get it straight
the shape of my body hiding it away with more layers of material.
I was never the first pick,
always behind a beautiful girl with the shape of a goddess,
pearl like skin,
long hair and light eyes.
I deserve your respect and love too,
for my skin and shape is not based on my worth.
I am only human,
red blood,
white bones
and love to give.
