Christian <3: Can you call?
Me: Yeah, not too busy

I prop my phone up against the computer as he calls me, "Hey."

"Hey, what's going on?"

"Just charting away. What's up?"

"I was just about to book some stuff but I want to check in before I did so. I'm trying to get everything straight."

"Okay."

"You're coming out on the 22nd, we'll do Christmas with my mom on the 23rd. We're going to fly back on the 24th. Do you think we could fly into Green Bay?"

"It's not impossible but is also just an inconvenience. Milwaukee will be better. My car will be at the airport anyway so it's just going to be easier. I doubt I'll need to stop at home because I'll pack for everything and leave it in my car."

"Okay, so we'll fly into Milwaukee. Drive up to Green Bay and spend Christmas with your family. Stay the night and drive back? I have us leaving Milwaukee on the 28th for Nashville."

"That's fine."

"And then coming back the 3rd."

"Okay. Sounds good. I got everything situated for work. So that's taken care of."

"You got all of those days off?"

"Well, I have too many personal days and they can't get mad about me using my personal days."

"How many are you using?"

"4, I think. I've accumulated a lot so it's not a big deal."

"How do you accumulate so many?"

"Before we started talking, I never took a day off. Only if I needed to."

"So you're saying it's my fault that you take off more days?"

"That's not what I'm saying. It's probably better for me to not be here all the time."

"I'm glad we agree on that. Is Bridget back yet?"

"Yeah, she's tan and a little annoying."

He laughs, "It's okay, you get to rub it in her face soon."

"That's a good way to look at it."

"It's only right."

Bridget comes around the corner, "And there she is."

"What?" she asks.

"We're just talking about you."

She squats beside me, "Hi, Christian."

"Hi. I heard you're bragging a bit today."

"I think I deserve that."

"No, I think you should go around the hospital and tell everyone that I officiated your wedding without any practice or a day's notice."

"I told you the day before."

"And left me with 16 unpleasant hours of thinking."

"Christian, was it that bad? She can be dramatic sometimes."

"Look, it wasn't pretty. But she got it done and it was done well."

She takes my phone, "Hey-"

"Well, can I steal her from you? I mean, she is working."

He laughs, "I guess so but you owe me."

"Deal," she turns my phone to me, "Say goodbye," she says.

I shake my head, "Bye, love you."
