Hey guys, welcome to Rhyme 17 :)
This chapter was originally placed a but later in the book but I've revamped the order of book 2 a lot recently and this is chapter moved up in the order during my first sort-out. Last night I did the second revamp and took some parts out and combined others into one. Therefore, since I haven't finished with the next part yet and I've changed the order of the book slightly, I might not have a chapter out next week 😅
With that being said though, I'm trying to write as much as I can and I hope you enjoy the first part of this book in the meantime 😊😊😊

Chapter Song: Silver Princess - 6 Months to Live
-
Most things in life made sense. Things like objects that were hot to the touch radiating heat, small shoes only fitting small feet. Aryia and I had bought Levi his first pair a week after he'd been able to show his dad how he'd learned to walk during his time away, and we couldn't be prouder of how fast he was growing up.
But there were also things in life that made no sense whatsoever, people singing Christmas songs in October when it wasn't even thanksgiving yet – it was honestly my least favorite genre of music; yes, even worse than jazz, but at least jazz didn't put a repetitive strain on my ears after an hour of listening to it. But the thing that made the least amount of sense was Katia's out-of-the-blue visit. Or maybe I should rephrase that. My ex-boyfriend's best friend visiting my house with my best friend because they were–
"Engaged?!" I asked, trying to hold back my surprise.
"Don't act so surprised." My best friend said, sipping on the coffee that Aryia had brought us all in the living room. "I mean, look at how long you guys were keeping your relationship secret before you told me."
'We weren't even dating until I moved into the KRAC House, Kati.'
"Hey," Jack shrugged, "at least I'm not a cheater."
Aryia gave me a look as if to say "What the fuck, bro?" so clearly he was just as confused as I was.
"Hey, play nice." Katia told him. "Besides, Evie did agree to go out with Jason because he woulda been a third wheel otherwise."
A shiver ran down my spine at my ex-boyfriend's name. It was honestly a miracle that I hadn't said a single bad word to Jack since they stepped into the EEAK House. But the main reason why I was holding my tongue was because Levi was taking a nap and I didn't want to disturb him.
"Hey, all I'm saying is that she left my best man broken-hearted."
"Right, because that's why he cheated on me." I reasoned with a straight face.
"Nah, it actually was." Jack said, putting his arm over the couch and looking into the back yard in a distant far-off-looking kind of way – as if he'd rather be any place rather than here.
"Anyway, "best man"?" Aryia asked.
Jack leered at him, kicking his feet up onto the coffee table. "Yeah, for our wedding."
"Not to sound rude, but could you get your feet down? That's our roommate's table and she paid a lot for it."
"Whoops, my bad." Jack said, putting his hands up and taking his feet down. "Didn't mean to get so comfortable in my fiancée's best friend's house. Didn't realize this was such an expensive piece of furniture anyway. How much did it cost? I'll put some cash towards the repairs."
