" We can't build a future based on lies," she said softly, her fingers trembling slightly. "I need to understand why you thought this was the right thing to do."

Rishab took a deep breath, looking straight into her eyes. "I was afraid," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. "Afraid to lose you, afraid that you would give up on our relationship.I was scared to face your hatred…”

“ But… It was hell staying without you…all these days…”

She wiped away a tear from her cheek, her expression softening. "You should have had faith in me. Instead of running away from everyone like a coward…" she replied, her voice filled with a mix of disappointment and compassion. "Communication and trust are the only way to overcome challenges together. We can't build a strong relationship on a foundation like this. Our relationship is already in a mess."

Rishab nodded, realising his mistake had brought them to a pivotal moment in their relationship. He knew that earning back her trust would require time, patience, and a genuine effort to change.

Taking a deep breath, she leaned back in her seat, staring out at the passing cars. After a moment of silence, she spoke softly, her voice tinged with a hint of hope. "I need time, Rishab. Time to process this, time to decide if we can rebuild what's been broken."

Rishab nodded again, his heart heavy with regret. "I understand," he murmured, his voice filled with sincerity. "Take all the time you need. I will do whatever it takes to make things right, to earn back your trust."

With that, they both sat in silence, lost in their own thoughts as the passing cars blurred by. The future of their relationship hung in the balance, uncertain and fragile, as they contemplated whether love and forgiveness could heal the wounds that had been inflicted with a single lie.

…….

A few minutes later the car halted, she stepped down silently and walked towards the elevator. He looked around and found no one as it was midnight. Then he followed her calmly and entered the elevator with her.

Once they reached, she walked in the direction of her flat and noticed Rishab in the direction of his flat. Then she remembered Tony and Manaasi in the flat. She wanted them to sort out their feelings if they were alone. So she doesn't Rishab to disturb them.

When he was supposed to press the bell, she stopped him.

“ You can sleep in my flat,” she said.

He looked at her, surprised by her suggestion. "Are you sure?" he asked, slightly uncertain.

She nodded. "Of course. It's late, and I don't mind at all. In fact, it would be better for you not to disturb your sister. You can stay here for the night."

He smiled gratefully and accepted her offer. "Thank you. That's very kind of you."

Together, they entered her apartment. It was cosy and neatly arranged, reflecting her organised nature. As they stepped inside, a sense of familiarity washed over him. He had been here before, but he never noticed it.

She gestured towards the guest room. Meanwhile, she quietly prepared for bed, making sure to be considerate of the late hour. Then she walked to her bedroom. Her thoughts were consumed with the unexpected circumstances. She couldn't deny the connection she felt with him, or the fact that she was upset with his past actions. Yet, she couldn't help but wonder how their life was going to change with the earlier talk.

Sitting on her bed, she contemplated the situation. Ultimately, she decided to let things unfold naturally. Thinking about the two families and their friendship for years, she trusted that they could navigate this unusual circumstance without straining anyone.

A few hours passed, and the night grew darker. As silence enveloped the apartment, Rishab heard a scream in his sleep all of a sudden. He opened her eyes and looked around the room. Then he realised it was Ishita's voice.

Rishab's heart raced with concern as he approached Ishita's bed. He could see that she was caught in the grip of a nightmare, her restless tossing and turning indicating her distress. With beads of sweat trickling down her forehead, it was evident that something had deeply disturbed her.

Gently, Rishab reached out and touched Ishita's trembling shoulder, hoping to wake her from the unsettling dream that held her captive.

"Ishita," he murmured softly, trying to soothe her, "wake up, it's just a bad dream."

Finally, Ishita's eyes fluttered open, filled with a mix of fear and confusion. She gasped for breath, her body still trembling with residual fear. Rishab sat by her side, holding her hand, trying to provide solace and comfort.

"It's okay, Ishita," he reassured her, his voice filled with tenderness. "You're safe now. It was just a dream, nothing more."

As Ishita's breathing steadied and her racing heartbeat began to slow down, she gradually regained her composure. She sat up, wiping the sweat from her brow and taking a few deep breaths to calm herself.

Looking at her condition, Rishab felt so upset. "Would you like to talk about it?" he asked gently. "Or would you prefer to do something that helps distract your mind from the dream?"

Ishita paused for a moment, considering his offer. She opened the drawer from the bedside table and took a pill from a small bottle. She gulped in her throat along with the water.

“ Why did you take the pill? “ He inquired as he was so anxious.

Instead of answering his question, “ Thanks for coming. You can go now…” she replied.

“ I cannot leave you alone in this state…” he denied to her.

“ I can't let you sleep in my bedroom. Still we have to sort out many things…” she said sternly.

He held her hand gently and pleaded, “ Ishu… I want to stay with you as a friend. I don't want to take advantage of your situation. Trust me atleast in this matter…”

“ Please….” He begged.” let me stay in the room…”
