1 year ago. 1 week before the “Falling Angel” took place. 12:17 am.

The sound of laughter and chatter rang across the small pub. Glasses clicked against each other, chairs scraped against the ground and insults were thrown around with no real bite behind them. Wide smiles decorated their faces as a world of its own was created around them, a familiar environment that could only be made by the four of them.

“I'm so glad you two could make it! It's been so long..I don't know what I would've done if you two weren't there for the announcement”

“You would've shat your pants, that's what you'd do” The man laughed. “You're a strict and scary guy, never afraid of being the center of attention. But I know you Cheol, saw your hands shaking in the podium”

A scoff. “Don't be so harsh on him Baekho, he did well up there” The man beside them smirked. “Minghao on the other hand; a total cutie, that kid”

“I did well! The hell are you talking about”

He snorted. “You stuttered like crazy when they mentioned you, but it's ok, you looked cute. In all honesty though, the both of you did amazing, I'm so proud of how far you've both come”

As Seungcheol smiled and Baekho patted his back, Minghao had to open his mouth and ruin the moment. “You should learn a couple of things from Minhyun, Baekho. Son’o’va bitch”

Surprise overtook the male's expression. He reached for the redhead and harshly began to ruffle his hair all while preaching about proper language and respect towards the elders. Minhyun laughed while Seunghceol rolled his eyes, both ignoring Minghao's cries for help.

“So? What’s next?” Minhyun asked him. “When's your first mission as SVT’s boss?”

“God, I don't even know..” He groaned. “The only thing they've told me is that there's going to be officials supporting me and giving me advice throughout the mission itself. But, fuck, the mere thought of them breathing down my back makes me nervous as hell”

“Tell me about it. I remember when I was assigned my first mission more than a decade ago. The mere idea of it left me restless and tired for days.” He drank his whiskey. “But you know Cheol, I'm sure you'll do well. You're a capable young man who's really smart and always willing to take others into consideration. Have a bit of more faith in yourself Boss, you got chosen for a reason”

Seungcheol let out an unconvinced huff. “I guess you're right”

He wet his lips. “Look, how about you let us know when your mission's going to be and we'll join in to help you guide the other agents better. Baekho and I have a lot of experience, I'm sure the officials will be willing to let us join in as guidance”

“That's a terrible idea. I can't risk you two getting hurt because of me! What if I fuck up and you two end up paying for it?!”

“Oh c’mon! Baekho over there almost lost an arm because you misplaced a bomb once. It's nothing we're not used to!”

   “But-”

“Seungcheol.” Baekho stopped him. “I’ve seen you work before; you’re amazing at giving orders and guiding others just like a leader should be. But I know nerves can fuck us all in the ass so abruptly, so let us help you just this once. We’re your friends! It’s always been us four against the world and the world against us; you’re not alone you know”

The words brought tears to his eyes. “Shut up…You’re going to make me cry you bastard”

“I was just stating facts” He shrugged, then patted his back. “It’s getting late, why don’t you head home to rest with Hao over there? I think the alcohol’s getting to him”
