Joshua knew he was being followed the second an unnerving feeling suddenly resided in his gut.

When he’d passed by the guards, the inmate could just tell they had stared at him for a second too long. To be honest, Joshua wouldn’t be surprised if Vernon thought they would be making an appearance this time –one would have to be an idiot to not be aware they’re under a secret organization’s radar–, but ever since Cheol had suspected a traitor to be among them, he’d been more secretive about mission proceedings, only allowing a certain number of trusted individuals to help out in the paperwork, technology, and disguises. There was no way they could've seen them coming; everything had been kept hidden from everyone at this point.

As he continued to walk, the sound of hurried steps behind him increased. And just when the thought of running crossed his mind, Joshua was being yanked back by the arm, his body wavering as it struggled to stand properly.

   “Where’s your card?

‘Card?’ The inmate thought. “What card?

“Mr. Chwe rented the left side of this building for business purposes. We’ve been notified that those who step into it are carrying a card, one that promotes their services” His gaze darkened. “So? Where's yours?

Taken aback, the inmate froze on the spot and stared at the clouded eyes of his aggressor. He slowly directed his vision to the ground, and then palmed his pockets.

"I.." He began. "May have lost mine.."

   A scoff. "Might've lost yours?"

"Yes." Joshua gulped. "Might've lost it"

"Look kid, I don't know what you're playing at, but I suggest you go back to where you came from. Mr. Chwe can be a terrible person whenever he wants to be, and trust me, you will not like to face his wrath" He let him go and pushed him towards the opposite hallway, a tired sigh following his actions soon after. "Go before you're found by any of the other guys. I can assure you they'll not be as lenient as me"

With a nod, Joshua began to walk away as fast as he could, making sure to take a different direction to avoid running into the earlier room. However, as soon as the inmate turned the corner, the sound of a gunshot immediately made him stop in his tracks. And before he could fully process what he'd heard, another loud thunder resonated throughout the hallway, causing his knees to grow weak.

A beep. "Josh, where are you right now?!"

"Heading..back to Jeonghan" He frowned. "Hao, what's going on? I just heard a pair of gunshots"

"Look, you two need to get out of there now! Vernon knows about us and I'm sure he's just sent out a couple of lackeys to look for you both!"

As if on cue, from two to three hallways further up, four lackeys appeared and, as soon as they made eye contact with the inmate, pointed and charged forward with guns in their hands. Immediately, Joshua turned around and began running as fast as he could, hoping that the bullets some of them had begun shooting wouldn't hit him.

"I'll go ahead and tell Jeonghan so make sure to get out of there as soon as possible! The light will go out for about 10 minutes so use that time to escape! Got it?!" Upon receiving no response, Minghao yelled. "Joshua?!"

"Fuck!" The inmate said as he turned a corner, barely avoiding a bullet that had passed a little too close to his head. He ran straight into a room and slammed the door shut. "I'm being followed, are you sure 10 minutes is enough time?!"
