TW: This is a very dark chapter. I mean, y'all see the title. There will be murder, violence, and mention of SA.

The words didn't make any sense. They were written by a traitor's hand, they were lies of the corrupted Hightowers. Princess Naerys and Prince Lucerys Velaryon were slain by their uncle, Prince Aemond Targaryen. This couldn't possibly be the horrible truth.

Coryanne didn't want to believe the raven her family had received before supper. Qoren's eyes were glued to the words while Aliandra silently cried as she picked at her food. None of them had taken a single bite of their food or sip of wine as they processed the news.

The younger princess felt her hands beginning to tremble under the table and her eyes became glossy, but she never shed a single tear. All she could think of was her sister. She could still remember them dancing along the shores and sparring in the sands between giggles. But now she was told that very same sister was dead? It didn't seem right.

Qoren was there, but not completely in his mind. He looked like an empty shell of a man as his tears freely fell from his dark brown eyes. He didn't understand how this could've happened. He'd seen his daughter and the prince together many times, and had even spent plenty of time with the prince. How could he be her demise?

Aliandra sniffled, squeezing her eyes shut tightly to rid herself of her tears. She took a deep breath, then turned to her father as she solemnly asked. "When do we sail for Dragonstone, father?"

Qoren's eyes shifted towards his eldest and he wiped his tear stained cheeks quickly, straightening back up in his chair. "We will remain in Dorne as always."

Coryanne's head snapped towards her father as Aliandra's mouth dropped with a scoff.

"I will not throw our people into another realm's war. I will not risk their lives and my family's-." Qoren explained, but then Aliandra slammed her fists into the table and rose to her feet.

"She was your family too!" Aliandra screamed at the top of her lungs, shaking with fury as she looked at her father with vengeful, pleading eyes. She wondered how her father wasn't already sending a fleet of his own to King's Landing. How could he take Naerys' death so lightly?

When Qoren didn't say anything, Aliandra stormed out of the room in tears and he let out a strained sigh. He looked over at his youngest with his eyes softened, almost apologetically. "I know you seek revenge for your sister, but that is not the woman I raised either of you to be."

"No..." Coryanne's eyes dropped to her lap as she clenched her fists tightly in her lap. Deep breath, deep breath. Keep it together, don't let anyone see. She took a deep breath, rising to her feet and looking down at her father in disappointment. "...but I know if it had been me, both of my sisters wouldn't hesitate to avenge my death."

Coryanne rushed out of the room to go after her sister, ignoring the weakened pleas from her father. She'd never seen Aliandra this distraught, not even when they'd lost their brother and nephew. Aliandra was always the one to comfort everyone in the room, always there to pick up the pieces of whoever shattered. But now it was Aliandra who shattered, and it was up to Coryanne to put the pieces back together.

"Sister?" Coryanne gently knocked on the maroon door, listening for any sound from inside. When there was no response, she knocked again, but still received no response. With a frustrated sigh, Coryanne burst through the door and was taken back when it closed behind her.
