My ideal man
is like a star in the sky,
so unreachable.

PEOPLE TEND TO ask me sometimes, ❝Can you still remember your high school crush?❞ I sweetly smile at them and respond with another question, ❝How can I forget about the man who made me doubt in love?❞

Of course, how can I forget about my high school crush when a scar on my right knee exists because of my stupidity?

I was starting anew that year until he appeared in my life and ruined every wall I had built. My friends and I decided to play at the quadrangle when I accidentally fell on my knees, and that is when my sophomore crush finally noticed the ugly duckling in class. The campus went radio silent, and what was embarrassing at that time? Our eyes met as he and his friends played basketball on the other side of the quadrangle.

Dear God, I badly wanted the ground to eat me alive just to get away from that moment in time. However, my prayers were useless as I ran away from the scene and hid in one of the cubicles of the comfort room. Surprisingly, I had a wound on my right knee, and it became a scar over time.

Nonetheless, he became my standard, and after several years of living in this lifetime, I failed to meet someone like him. Even my friends commented, ❝Your ideal man is like a star in the sky, so unreachable.❞

Well, I am also a star, after all.
