Chapter 22 -The Powerholders of Zhongguo

"Y'know, I've never met someone who actually managed to turn Zhurong into such a softie, and I've known him all my life" Dianmu said, leaning on the fence as she took a sip of her drink

"HAHA! Oh if only I could tell you the things I made him do" Mazu replied giggling

"It's nice to know he's got a softer side" she replied

"Has he always been an asshole?"

"Well we grew up together and he's never been anything short of a pain in the ass"

"How did you meet by the way? He keeps saying that you're his sister, but your family names- you aren't actually related are you?" Mazu asked making Dianmu chuckle

"No haha. You see back when we're kids, I'm talking like... 6 or 7. Our parents would make us beg on the streets for spare change, for the whole day. We got to knowing each other after seeing each other on the same streets a lot. One day I got attacked by some stray dogs, and he came and killed one"

"HE KILLED A DOG? WHEN HE WAS SIX???"

"He had a knife, yeah. After that we decided to stick together, take any money we've made and run away from our parents, stay out on our own. One day we met Master, he took us in, raised us and trained us, and now we work for him"

"Oh, that... must have been a tough childhood I assume"

"It was a learning experience to say the least"

"And, Zhurong tells me about a few friends of yours? Lei Gong and, what was the others name?"

"Oh yeah, the yellow moron is Lei Gong, the orange guy is Caishen, and the pink one is Yang Asha. They all grew up together on the same street where Zhurong and I lived, so we kinda got to know each other over the years, they should be here any moment"

"It's nice to meet some new friends, I don't know if Zhurong told you, my life previously was uh..."

"Yeah, he did, no need to delve on something that bothered you. You're one of us now" Dianmu smiled taking a sip as they both leaned on the fence looking out into the city. As she went to take another sip of her cup, a hand yanked it out and took a sip, before spitting it out

"Dear god why is your coffee so BITTER?!" The yellow guy said

"Lei for FUCKS sake can I not even have a drink in peace?!" She replied

"I'm just trying to help you, put some sugar in it, make it as sweet as you are. Wait... don't, it'll be even more bitter that way" Lei replied with a smile

"You fucking-" Dianmu replied

"Is this Lei Gong?" Mazu said giggling

"Yes, this is Lei, oh, and there's Caishen and Asha too" Dianmu said as the other two followed

"Oh you're Mazu? Zhurong's girlfriend?" Caishen asked

"I think so, yeah, hehe. Wait, have I seen you before...?" Mazu replied enthusiastically, curiously looking at the tall orange fellow

"The famous Caishen Baozang does like to plaster his face all over the city. He's an entrepreneur, a celebrity of sorts, you may have seen his face here and there" Dianmu explained

"The pleasure is mine" He smiled

"Zhurong does have good taste after all" Asha replied giggling

"What do you do? If you don't mind me asking" Caishen asked

"I used to work in uh... a family business, shall we say, back in my home town, Kowloon. But now I'm working with Zhurong and Dianmu. Or at least, training to" She said
