SCARLET HEART
CHAPTER 11
UROKODAKI SAKONJIEDITED - 012924
Yurika did her best to focus on her surroundings so she could better prepare for the demon attack.
The moon had been up for a while now, and Nezuko was finally free to walk between Yurika and Tanjirou, holding their hands as she did.
Noticing a light up ahead, Yurika realized they were coming close to a building of some sort...
Tanjirou stopped walking. “Oh, there's a temple over there.” He turned to Yurika and his sister. “There's light leaking through, so someone must be there.”
“Haha... Yeah...”
“Let's check it out.”
Ah crud, here we go.
Not a second later, the burgundy-haired boy had tensed up, startled by the smell of blood and worried that someone had been injured. He bounded up the stairs to the entrance, dragging Yurika and Nezuko along with him.
The burgundy-haired boy slid the doors wide open. “Are you alright?” He shouted.
Whatever else he might have said died in his throat when he saw the blood splattered across the walls and the humanoid figure kneeling in front of a pile of lifeless bodies.
Yurika cringed at the sight, reminiscent of the scene from which she had awakened from her coma. It took every ounce of her strength not to immediately vomit, especially with the repulsive slurping sounds the demon was making.
He turned around from his meal, licking his fingers, and glared at the three. “What the hell? This is my turf... you break into my territory, I'll make you pay!”
Yurika trembled a bit, glancing at Tanjirou's expression and noticing it looked like his soul had left his body.
Looking over at Nezuko, Yurika watched as a few droplets of drool started to form on her chin.
This was going to be a shit show.
The threatening demon in front of them stood to his feet. “There's something off about you. Are you three humans?”
The burgundy-haired boy took a step back, a determined look on his face as his hand moved to grip his axe.
The candle light in the room went out, and Tanjirou went flying backward as the demon tackled him. If Yurika were being completely honest, it was a lot more terrifying to watch in person. The speed at which the demon had moved was insane.
