Chapter 27: The perfect time

"Keila.." Dwayne said while looking so nervous as he stands in front of me. Weird. Ngayon ko lang siyang nakitang ganito. Nakakapanibago. Parang hindi ko na kilala 'yong Dwayne na nakatayo ngayon sa harapan ko. "I want to.. I want to tell you something."

"What is it?" I answered looking a little bit concerned. "May problema ba, Dwayne?" Tumayo ako para pumantay ako sakanya para makita ko ang mata niya. I know there's something wrong.

"I'm sorry about Krystal. I warned her not to hurt you but look what happened, I'm so sorry. It's all my fault. She's just mad I broke up with her." He said. He can't even looked at me. I can't help to think what Krystal said to me awhile ago. Am I really the reason for they break up? The question is, why me? "I know she already told you the reason and yes.. it's because of you." Nanlaki ang mata ko sa narinig ko. So she's right.

"Ako, bakit ako, Dwayne?" I asked then Dwayne lifted his face to look at me. "What is it about me, Dwayne?"

Huminga siya ng mamalim. His eyes is still fixed on me. Bumilis tuloy ang tibok ng puso ko. I'm getting nervous about his stare. Not because I'm attracted to it but because I know there's something behind that look.

"I know you're happy with him now and I don't want to ruin that. I just want you to be happy and that's all. Whatever my reason is, leave that everything to me.. just please don't get mad at me."

I can see the sadness in his eyes. Damn. It's the first time I've seen him like this. "Dwayne.. why are you saying that?" I asked. I have a clue why but I need to confirmed it with him. Pagod na akong mag assume dahil sa huli ako at ako lang din naman ang nasasaktan. Kung talagang gusto na niya ako or kung mahal na niya ako kaya sila nag hiwalay ni Krystal dapat sabihin niya sakin. Or baka iba ang dahilan, hindi ko alam. Siya lang naman ang makakapagsabi non.

"I told you, leave everything to me. You don't need to know it. I just want us to remain friends." He said while trying to fake a smile. I felt something weird. Am I hurting seeing him like this? "You're not mad at me, right?"

Actually, kay Krystal lang naman talaga ako nagagalit at hindi sakanya. Siguro nadamay lang siya sa galit ko.

"No, I'm not." I said.

He smiled at me looking more relieved. "We're friends, right?"

I nodded. "Yeah, we're friends."

Tinitigan niya ulit ako. Nakikita ko sa mga mata niya na may gusto pa siyang sabihin sakin pero hindi ko alam kung bakit ayaw niyang sabihin. I want to know what it is but I know he wouldn't tell me so it's pointless to ask. Kung gusto niyang sabihin 'yon o hindi, bahala siya.

"I need to go.. I'll see you tomorrow."

Tinignan ko si Dwayne diretso sa mga mata niya. Wala na akong maramdaman na kahit ano pa. Hindi katulad dati. Nakakamangha. Nakakapanibago pero ano man 'to masaya ako. I can now look straight into his eyes without having any feelings for him.

"Okay.. see you tomorrow." I said then he waved and walked away. "What is it, Dwayne?" Bulong ko sa sarili ko.

May idea man ako kung bakit ako ang naging dahilan ng break up nila ni Krystal ayoko pa din mag assume. Pwede din naman kasing nakikita pa din sakin ni Dwayne si Dana kaya akala niya gusto o mahal niya ako at 'yon 'yong ginawa niyang dahilan kay Krystal. Ang weird nga lang ng inaasal niya ngayon pati ng mga sinasabi niya. May nga oras talagang hindi ko siya maintindihan.

"Guguluhin mo na naman ba 'yong isip ko Dwayne?" Sambit ko.

"Did he tell you?" Napahawak ako sa dibdib ko dahil sa gulat. Seriously? Lahat ba sila gugulatin ako? "Sorry about that." He chuckled.
