You woke up with a groan. All of your muscles felt sore and you didn't want to wake up. You rolled over to check the clock on your bedside table and it read 6 AM. You groaned even louder this time and covered your face with your pillow.
"Too early..." You whispered into the comfy pillow.
Your eyes shoot open and you look around wildly. You don't recognize anything in this room. Your sleep addled brain tried to find an explanation for why you aren't in your stuffy apartment... then you remember.
You moved. Moved to Grandpa's farm in Pelican Town.
At that realization, you flopped back down into your comfy bed and relax.
"I guess I was really tired." You reason.
There were so many things you had to do today. You might have moved all your stuff here, but none of it was unpacked. You supposed you should also socialize with the locals. You didn't want to be a social pariah. Having a good relationship with the townspeople would be beneficial.
A knock on your door fully jolted you awake.
Oh, no! No no no no no!
You forgot. How could you forget? You were supposed to meet the mayor of the town yesterday, but it was just so late when you finally got here that Mayor Lewis decided it would be better to formally introduce himself tomorrow. Now it is tomorrow and you aren't presentable.
"One minute!" You shout.
You start the mad dash to put on some clean clothes and at least try to make yourself look presentable. First impressions are everything. This was the flippin Mayor of the town for peets' sake!
After looking in the mirror and deciding you looked halfway decent, you head to the front of the house so you can finally greet the Mayor.
"Hello!" You say after opening the door.
You are met with an older gentleman who has the biggest mustache you have ever seen. It's rude to stare, but you just couldn't help it. He looked like he came right out of the 1950s. Suspenders and all.
"Welcome, welcome! I'm Lewis mayor of Pelican Town. Sorry about yesterday, but we'll make up for it today." He greeted, arm out, signaling he wanted to shake hands.
"Nice to me you. I'm Y/N/L/N." You greeted back.
"Well, I just wanted to stop by, but I've sent over someone to help you familiarize yourself with your new property. Everyone in Pelican Town loved you Grandfather and were sad when he passed." He said sadly. "On the bright side, we are grateful you here Y/N and are glad someone will be continuing your Grandfather's legacy." He said.
The mentioning of your Grandfather has you feeling sad, but you are happy that the people of this town actually want you here. You were worried that they might not. This seemed like a tightknit community. You didn't think that they would be open to outsiders.
"Thank you. That means the world to me. I appreciate you coming by Mayor Lewis." You reply with a smile.
"Oh, it's no problem at all, Y/N. I'll get out of your hair now. Robin should be over shortly." He said, just before leaving.
You shut the door feeling a lot better than before. You were about to actually start your morning routine when something in the wood caught your eyes. Golden blonde hair that looked amazing when the sunlight hit it. You did a double take and rushed over to the window to see who was walking outside.
