Beomgyu cried into Hueningkai's shoulder all night he almost didn't have the energy to get ready for work the next day.His eyes were puffy and red, his face tear stained because he woke up and started crying all over again.
"You should call out." Hueningkai said watching him about to leave.
"Why? So I can stay home and cry some more? I think I'll pass on that." He grabbed his jacket and put it on, he stared at the door before turning around and hugging Hueningkai. "Thank you." He whispered.
"Anytime hyung." He gave him a heartwarming smile watching him leave.
Beomgyu got to work and put on the best fake smile he possibly could. He walked inside and everyone smiled at him asking how his anniversary went, he found it funny how everyone else knew when his anniversary was but his own husband.
It took everything to not burst into tears again but he kept it together as best as he could, until Taehyun came over.
"Hey Beomgyu, how was your anniversary?" He asked and Beomgyu gave him the same fake smile he gave everyone else.
"It was great, we had fun and I enjoyed it." He said tapping his foot as he waited for the coffee machine which was taking longer than usual.
Taehyun stared at him. "...no you didn't." His voice soft and gentle, a sad smile on his face.
Beomgyu looked up at him and then covered his face crying into his hands. Taehyun pulled him into a warm hug, a hug that reminded him of Yeonjun and just made him cry harder.
"How about after work I take you for food and drinks so you can vent?"
"I'd really like that Taehyun." He said crying into his shoulder.
"Of course princess."
"Mark my words princess."
Beomgyu backed away from him quickly wiping face. "Sorry about the tears on your-"
"It's fine." He watched Beomgyu pick up his coffee and he grabbed the mug from his hands. "We are going to get better coffee than this. Come on." He guided him to the elevators and pressed the button.
"But shouldn't we tell someone we are..."
"Can you keep a secret?" He asked and Beomgyu nodded. "The boss is a family friend and he owes me a favor, quite a few actually." The elevator doors opened and they walked inside.
"The more you know." Beomgyu murmured making Taehyun laugh.
They went out for coffee and sat down in front of each other. Beomgyu vented about not only their anniversary but everything that had been happening before.
"It started a year after we got married. I had noticed that he was acting different. I thought that maybe he regretted proposing to me. He became distant, he stopped calling me by my nicknames, he even stopped saying he loves me. I asked him one day if he still loved me and he got angry, like "how dare you question me" kind of angry."
Beomgyu stared at his ring. "I don't know what to do anymore, I mean he forgot our anniversary." He chuckled. "He forgot and no one else did."
"I'm sorry Beomgyu." Taehyun said. "You two need to talk."
"No." He said firmly. "Not yet, I need time to cool off right now."
Taehyun nodded. "Understandable."
Their coffees were done and Taehyun got up to go get them. He came back with their coffees and a muffin.
"Best muffins in the city, something more to cheer you up."
Beomgyu smiled and took a bite, he sighed and hummed. "Thash show goo'." He took another bite.
"Glad you like it."
They continued to talk about other things than Beomgyu's failing marriage and he really enjoyed Taehyun's company. They walked back to work, laughing together about things that happened in their school days or things with coworkers. He kind of forgot about how hurt he was, after work they went straight to dinner especially since Beomgyu forgot his lunch and didn't eat anything.
They went to a restaurant together and did nothing but laugh again. Taehyun said things in a serious tone but in a joking way that made Beomgyu cheese with laughter.
"And I'm so serious when I say he smelt like tomatoes for the rest of the week. I don't know who looks at a skunk and thinks it's a fucking dog."
Beomgyu laughed again, leaning to the side as he wiped his eyes.
"Wait so where were you?"
"Not getting sprayed by a skunk that's for sure." He smiled as Beomgyu laughed again. "Unlike my cousin I stayed several feet away from that skunk. Every time I breathed around him I felt my organs failing."
"Smelling like tomatoes for a week isn't as bad as smelling like a skunk."
"That's true but it could've all been avoided if he somehow wasn't dumb."
Beomgyu chuckled and sipped his champagne.
"Gosh that was such a funny story."
"Now it's your turn, I want to laugh."
"I am not funny."
"Nonsense, you have to have at least one."
Beomgyu started thinking and all his funny stories involved...
A sad smile showed on his face as he stared down at the table.
"A lot of my memories involve my absent husband so I'm afraid I don't have much to share." His voice below a whisper, Taehyun almost didn't hear him.
"...you know I split my pants during a school recital once."
He covered his mouth and his eyes widened in shock. "You didn't."
"My mom recorded it." He took his phone out and Beomgyu eagerly leaned in, ready to see. "I'm embarrassing myself for your entertainment so I hope I at least get a kiss after this." He joked but was some what serious.
Beomgyu rolled his eyes with an amused smile. "In your dreams Tae. Now show the video."
"You're lucky I like you so much." He showed him the video and his smile and laughter was worth all the embarrassment in the world.
He walked Beomgyu to his car.
"Thank you so much for today Taehyun. Honestly, it meant a lot to me."
"Anytime Beomgyu." He opened the door for him and helped him inside. "Drive safe. Let me know when you're home."
"You too."
Beomgyu soon returned home and when he walked inside Yeonjun looked like he was about to leave.
"Hey." He said with a small smile. "You're home late. Long day?"
"Something like that. My coworker took me out for dinner." He toed off his shoes and looked at him, he looked concerned.
"Ryujin?"
"Taehyun, you haven't met him yet." They stared at each other for several moment before Beomgyu spoke again. "You're going out with coworkers again?"
"Oh uh...no actually I got called back into the office for some last minute project changes."
"Oh, well be careful." He turned to go to their room and Yeonjun reached out for him but stopped.
"Beomgyu I really am sorry."
Beomgyu stopped and turned to look at him. He was smiling, but it was a smile that didn't reach his eyes and seemed to tremble a little.
"I know." He went to their room and closed the door locking it behind him.
