Yeonjun could hear distant voices murmuring when his eyes started to open. The bright white line shining in his eye made it hard for his eyes to focus. He groaned a little as he wiped rubbed his face."Where am I?" He thought.
He sat up a little and realized he was in a hospital room. He looked around and saw a bag on the chair a few feet away from him.
The voices were a little more clear. He could hear Soobin outside the door talking to someone, he heard two other voices outside the door too. After a few more moments Hueningkai walked in and his heart skipped when he saw who was following closely behind him.
"Beomgyu!"
The male froze when he saw he was awake. Soobin walked in as well seeing Yeonjun trying to climb out of bed.
"Wait, leave the IV in." He quickly went to his side trying to hold him still.
"Beomgyu wait I'm sorry don't go!"
Kai quickly walked Beomgyu out of the room and Yeonjun tried to get Soobin off of him.
"Let me go Soobin, please!" His strength didn't hold up long and soon Yeonjun couldn't struggle anymore. "Just me go, why won't you let me go?" He cried gently and Soobin wiped his face with his thumb.
"It's not good for either one of you right now." He says, voice low and gentle as he looked concerned for him. "The doctor said you're dehydrated and you passed out because you haven't being eating. He can tell you're malnourished right now. You're not getting the vitamins you need from your food. You have to eat."
"He's gone." He whispered staring blankly ahead. "Why...should I?"
Soobin sighed. "Yeonjun, I'm going to get the doctor and let her know you're awake. Stay still."
Yeonjun turned his head away from him and started to cry again.
Soobin left and got the doctor. She came in and Yeonjun saw Soobin grab the bag from the chair. It had a cute brown bear keychain, the one Yeonjun gave him months ago because it reminded him of Beomgyu. He put it on his favorite bag. He stared at the bear as Soobin walked past him and left the room.
"Yeonjun?"
"Hm?"
"You didn't hear anything I said?" She asked with a smile.
"No...sorry." He continued to stare at the wall.
"Why haven't you been eating?" He didn't answer. "You know it's not safe to starve yourself." Still no answer. "I'm going to check a few things and come back."
She left the room and after a few minutes a different woman walked inside.
"Hi Yeonjun." She said with a smile as she sat in the chair next to his bed. "I'm Dr. Ahn, I'm the hospitals psych evaluator. It's good to see you're awake."
He didn't respond to her and turned over in bed, his back facing her.
"You have some very concerned friends you know?" She asked as she wrote some things down. "The really tall one with the dimples caught me on my way in. He's very sweet and extremely worried, you two must be close."
"...yeah."
"You've known each other for a while?"
"College."
"Oh I see. What do you like about your friendship with him?"
"He puts up with my bullshit." He muttered as he started to sit up a little. "No one should though."
"Why do you think that?"
No answer.
"I just want to help you Yeonjun-"
"I DON'T WANT YOUR HELP!" He yelled at her. "GET OUT!"
He was breathing heavily and his eyes were burning because despite wanting to be angry and yelling at her, every time he opened his mouth he just wanted to sob. Maybe they would reach Beomgyu.
"Get out." He voice cracking as he lowered his head.
"Okay, okay I'll leave." He heard her stand and Yeonjun's shoulders shook as he covered his face. "I'll leave this hear, for when you're ready to forgive yourself."
Her words hit him and he suddenly looked up as she walked out the room, he looked back down and it was a business card. He slowly reached over and looked at it, it was her number, business hours and location for therapy.
He ripped it in half and left it on the bed before laying back down.
Sleep came all too quickly after that.
...
"Are you eating?" Dr. Ahn asked.
She visited his room regularly, they wouldn't discharge him from the hospital and he didn't know why.
"Why do you keep coming here?" It was the third time.
"Because I want you to talk to me."
"Why?"
"Because you're in pain and you need someone right now.
Yeonjun hugged his pillow as he laid there staring at the wall.
"I ate crackers today."
"Did you drink anything."
"Yes. Water."
"That's great Yeonjun I'm very happy to hear that."
"...I threw it up. Are you happy to hear that too?"
"Was it on purpose?"
"Why does it matter?" He snapped.
"Because at least you're trying, that's all anyone could ever ask for."
Yeonjun closed his eyes and sighed. "Please leave Dr. Ahn."
He heard her stand up. "I'll leave this here for you again. I see the others are in the trash." He didn't say anything and she left again.
He looked at her business card and sighed before picking it up and staring at it. He looked at the words 'therapy' on the card and then ripped it again and tossed it.
