Things between Beomgyu and Yeonjun didn't get any better but they didn't get worse. Beomgyu didn't speak to him or make an effort to talk like he normally did and Yeonjun noticed. It seemed he was unsure on how to go about this entire situation. He forgot their anniversary. There was no coming back from that.
Beomgyu was still clearly hurt, feeling betrayed by the man he was still head over heels for. The wound healing and reopening every single time their eyes met. Being in that house was suffocating for him so he started to stay away, spending time with Hueningkai and Taehyun whenever he could to take his mind off things.
It was another morning and Beomgyu was getting ready for work. He wore nicer clothes today and did a little bit of his makeup. He wore his glasses again and put his long hair into a small ponytail. He grabbed his things heading out his bedroom door, Yeonjun was in the kitchen and saw him walk by to leave.
"I'm heading out to work."
"W-Wait I...I made you breakfast." Beomgyu paused and looked at him. "Do you want to join me?"
"I can't today I'm running late." He walked over and grabbed a container. "I'll take it to-go."
"I can do it for you." He gently took the container from him and put his food in it. "Maybe tomorrow morning you can join me for breakfast?" He suggested, too scared to even look at him. He couldn't bare to see the look of heartbreak in his eyes.
"Okay Yeonjun." He gave him a small smile. "Thank you." And soon he walked through the door and left.
Beomgyu got to work and set his things down and then went to the break room to make coffee.
"Morning Princess."
"Morning Tae." He smiled brightly at him.
"For you." He handed him a coffee from a shop and Beomgyu sighed in relief taking it.
"Thank you, we didn't have any sugar here."
"I'm looking at all the sugar right now." He teased and tilted his head a little. "You look beautiful."
Beomgyu couldn't help but smile before sipping his coffee. "Thank you Tae."
"Are we still on for dinner tonight?" He asked.
"Absolutely."
"Great, so I'll see you later."
Beomgyu nodded and went to his desk. A few minutes later Ryujin suddenly appeared next to him making him jump.
"Me and you are having a lunch break together today because we need to talk." She whispered loudly.
"Uhhhhh...okay."
She walked away while glaring at him and Beomgyu just shrugged it off and went back to working. When lunch eventually rolled around they had lunch in the break room that people rarely used because they prefer to go to the cafeteria next door.
"You haven't talked about Yeonjun at all and you're spending a lot of time with Taehyun and don't think that I don't notice the way you've been putting effort into your appearance. What's going on?"
Beomgyu sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before looking at her.
"Yeonjun forgot our wedding anniversary. I spent it alone in our room hoping he'd show up and he did an hour after it was over."
Ryujin was shocked. "He what?" She exclaimed. "Did...did you two talk about it?"
"No, and I don't want to."
"But this could just be one big misunderstanding. If you both just sit and talk then-"
"Ryujin you don't get it!" His eyes started burning with tears. "I just can't. I don't want to face him and find out that my suspicions are true."
"What suspicions Beomgyu?"
"That he doesn't love me anymore." His voice cracked and his shoulders shook as he cried. "He stopped saying I love you, he won't have dinner with me, he's out all night with his coworkers doing God knows what, he won't even touch me anymore! I don't know what to do and I'm so scared Ryujin."
She held his hand as he cried and tried to comfort him.
"Beomgyu. I'm saying this because I love you and care about you so much. If this has been happening for awhile you have to talk to him and then go from there. You both have to try to fix this."
"I don't even know what to say to him."
"Just tell him what you told me. It'll be okay."
Something as simple as talking felt like getting teeth pulled. The anxiety from the anticipation, the pressure from it all, the discomfort, just to lose a piece of yourself in the end. She was right but he was scared.
So he confided in Taehyun over dinner.
"It's hard to say what you should do but communication is important. Maybe he truly isn't aware of what he's been doing, bring it to his attention and maybe things will change."
"...and if they don't?"
"Beomgyu, you aren't happy anymore. I don't doubt that you love him but staying with someone who isn't good for you isn't healthy. I advise that you put yourself first for once and do what you think is right for you."
His words struck him but he thanked him for listening and they continued with dinner. Beomgyu went home and Yeonjun wasn't there, he didn't tell him where he was and Beomgyu didn't ask. He cleaned himself up and went to bed making sure to lock the bedroom door behind him.
He'd talk to him in the morning and get it over with.
