Vali Lucifer POV
The warm breeze blew against my skin as I float above the city. Down below, I can hear the footfalls of people walking along the sidewalk. They idly speak with one another about their day, conversing about anything that interests them. Cars slowly pass by, oblivious to the world altering events that are soon to happen.
With a heavy sigh, I open my eyes and take in the scenery.
Numerous lights of different colors blanket the night sky as the constant murmurs of people enter my ears unwanted. I see them laugh, make merry and love one another...
"How boring..." The words fall from my lips while I lower the height of which I hover until my feet touch the solid metal of the construction zone I was in. Behind me, I hear Azazel laugh merrily while wearing the usual yukata that he does.
"You find tonight boring? I think it's a relatively peaceful night."
"And that's why I think so. There's nothing to do." My locks of silver hair flow into my eyes, temporarily blinding me as I turn my gaze towards the city once more.
"Well, tonight shouldn't be too boring for you." Walking up beside me, Azazel places his hand on my shoulder, trying to comfort me. With a sigh, I stand up straight before shrugging my shoulder free from his grasp.
"Do I have to be at the summit tonight?"
"Of course, Vali. After all, you are the White Dragon Emperor." White Dragon Emperor. A title that only the chosen amongst the chosen can wield. And with this title comes some degree of power, though not the kind I wish it was.
"Hey, Azazel...do you think there will be another war?" Still feeling bored, I started to strike up a conversation. The night breeze blows strong, sending my clothes into an uncontrolled frenzy. The tips of my shoes hang dangerously close to the edge of the steel girder I'm standing on, though I feel no vertigo in doing so.
Azazel scoffs while folding his arms, joining me at looking into the night.
"That's a typical line for someone possessed by a dragon. You seem like the type to die young"
"That's fine. I'm not interested in living a long life anyways." My shoes inch further towards the edge. Only my heel is keeping me standing on something solid.
"I just think that it's unfortunate that I was born in this time. A world without God..." My gaze turns upwards, exchanging the glowing city lights for actual stars. In the pitch black night sky, they shine brightly as I continue my monologue.
"I wanted to try and defeat God."
"That's why you're the White Dragon Emperor." Azazel also stands on the edge with me, seemingly praising me for my line of thinking. My thoughts however, aren't all that special. It's simply who I am.
"I have no interest in a boring world." I crave strong opponents to fight, and to challenge.
In that moment, the memory of Kokabiel fighting against the Red Dragon Emperor flashes in my mind. Even outside the barrier placed up around that school, I could clearly hear the deep thuds of his attacks. The sharp punches and expert control over mana.
"Oh? What's got you smiling?" Azazel's comment threw me off, and I realized I was smiling. The corners of my mouth had tugged up slightly, and with minimal effort, I wiped the expression away.
"Nothing. I was just reminded of something. Will the Red Dragon Emperor be at the summit tonight?" Azazel's fingers rose to his chin hair as he began to stroke it.
"Oh? Does someone have a crush?" Not even attempting to respond to his jokes, I simply hold my gaze on the fallen angel, awaiting my answer.
"Man, for someone who doesn't like a boring world, you're quite boring yourself. Since you're so curious, yes, he will be attending tonight. I got confirmation from Sirzechs not too long ago."
