Jax and I were waiting in Michael's "living room" for what seemed like an hour.
"Where are they?," I complained. "They've been gone forever."
Right on que the boys walked in with pizza and the girls. Jax's jaw dropped to the floor.
"Never has Michael took any of his girlfriends into his own house," Jax said. "But here she is. The one and only Leah Rose."
"Well she's my only serious girlfriend so," Michael said looking down.
"I'm pretty sure she's your only girlfriend," Kacey laughed. "I mean you can't call the girls in the past your girlfriends."
"Shut up," Michael spat.
"I'm your first girlfriend huh?," Leah asked trying not to blush but failing miserably.
"Yep," Michael said popping the 'p'.
"So why did you bring them here? I thought...," Jax said motioning to me.
"Well...uh...funny story," Kacey laughed scratching the back of his neck.
"Go on," Jax said impatiently.
"Avery we know," Courtney cheered.
"WHAT?!," I screamed.
"Kacey told us everything. You don't have to hide it. None of you guys do."
"But its not that simple Court," I said taking a deep breath.
"Yes it is Aves, you're having trouble in math. It's alright. Michael is smart," Leah smiled.
I looked to Michael and Kacey and raised my eyebrows but then cleared my throat. "Uh yeah, yeah of course. I guess I was just embarrassed."
"Don't be, you're an honor roll student Avery. Keeping that is important. Don't be embarrassed to ask for help."
I hated this. I was a 4.0 for Christ sakes.
"Yeah I just have a low B. It aggravates me. Four weeks until the end of the quarter ya know."
Courtney nodded and grabbed a slice of pizza and sat on the floor in front of Kacey.
"Let's eat," Jax smiled and grabbed a piece as well.
"Let's," I said forcing a smile.
So we all ate, Kacey passed us all a can of Coke, and we turned on Michael's TV that we turned on to Lifetime. Because who doesn't like a good Lifetime movie.
"I'm tired," Courtney said closing her eyes. Kacey picked her up and carried her.
"I'm gonna just take her home. I don't think she'd appreciate sleeping on the floor," Kacey chuckled as he left.
"Can I just sleep on your mattress or something?," Leah asked rubbing her eyes.
"Yeah," Michael said kissing her forehead and watch her lay down in his bed. She smiled and curled up under the blankets and fell asleep.
"Michael what makes her so different than the rest?," Jax asked turning off the TV.
"She doesn't crave for attention. She's beautiful inside and out, and I know, that if I walked out that door right now, she is an independent beauty queen that could take care of herself perfectly."
"What are you saying?," I asked.
"Well when high school is done, I'm going into the army. I need to know that when I leave her for awhile, she can be on her own when I'm off and away."
"So you're this serious with her?," Jax asked with a proud smile.
"Yeah Jax, I think I am," he said looking to Leah who was asleep and wrapped up in his sheets.
"Michael. I can't tell you how happy I am for y'all. Beginning of this year, I thought you guys were gonna be worse than last year. Going through girls faster than you could blink. But you both have grown up. So have I," he said lacing his hand with mine.
"Yeah," Michael said.
"Hey I'm back," Kacey said walking thru the doors.
"Jax I'm just going to fall asleep," I said nuzzling my head in the crook of his neck and falling asleep.
"Okay," Jax said kissing my forehead and watching me fall asleep.
