_______
2nd Person POV
Nemuri's Home
2:57 PMSighing, you unlock the front door and steel yourself for the worst. "This is gonna suck..." you mutter as you open the door and enter your home. Reluctantly, you remove your sneakers at the genkan and take a shaky breath as you close the door behind you. "Anyone home?" you call out and as you hear footsteps approaching, you brace for the worst.
Nemuri eventually appears around the corner, clad in civilian wear and as she spots you, her expression softens.
"Y/n. Good, I was starting to get worried!" she chides and you give her a confused look.
"Uhh...Worried?" you ask hesitantly as she motions for you to follow and walks into the living room.
"Yes, worried!" she repeats as you follow after her. "Ryūhei said you...had a fight." Midnight sighs and you echo her as she takes a seat from the dining table while you go to the couch. Grimacing somewhat, you fiddle with your phone while you sit.
"Oh yeah...That..." you mumble, refusing to meet your aunt's gaze as your fiddling increases. "I should've guessed he'd mention that...I didn't really mean to fight with him but he just..." you give a frustrated sigh and press you palm against your forehead. "I don't know, I thought things would be different, Aunt Nem..."
Nemuri observes you for a moment before her expression softens and she lets out a quiet sigh.
"I know, Y/n...Trust me, I gave him an earful about it already...I just think there should be more understanding about the situation."
"Yes! Exactly!" you agree as you look up at her in surprise but she only raises her hand to stop you.
"From both of you."
"Wha? What do you mean both of us?" you frown. "He's still acting like it's all just perfect even after everything she-"
"Y/n." Nemuri interrupts firmly and, despite wanting to make your point, you begrudgingly keep quiet. "No one is denying what Tsukiko did to you and no one is ignoring it or sweeping it aside. Even if it feels that way, that's not what this is Y/n..." she sighs as her stern expression fades and you begin fiddling with your phone again but remain silent. "This is a difficult situation for Ryūhei to navigate, Y/n. He's not ignoring your feelings about this or choosing her over you. He is still a Pro Hero and with the delicate state Tsukiko is in at the moment, there would be a certain...stigma...if he doesn't keep up appearances by visiting her. Can you imagine the scandal it would cause if Armory wasn't visiting his comatose wife?"
Sourly, you nod but keep your gaze planted at your feet.
"It would be everywhere..." you admit lowly. Even with Armory being such a well respected hero, you could understand how quickly people would turn on him if he wasn't at her side.
It didn't mean you had to like it.
"Along with that, her actions were never made public knowledge and what happened to her as a student was purged from all records by both her family along with the Public Safety Commission. No one knows the real story, Y/n, and unfortunately, Ryūhei doesn't have much of a choice at the moment. He can't file for divorce, nor custody of you because, legally, Tsukiko can't consent to or contest either option."
Your lips twist with a frown as you bring your legs up onto the couch and bury your head in your crossed arms.
"I know that..." you mumble. "But it still sucks."
