I take back everything I ever said about Jess being over protective or too strict. I'm not saying she's not been a good friend or letahr, just that Gladier has taken his new self appointed duty to me really seriously. I was right about him being able to find answers in the journals, only it wasn't just about runes.

Though the runes were something that definitely gave me an idea.

According to Meylo's father, he discovered at set of runes that can harness the power of magick when someone is using it. Only difference was that the runes were found on some stones. It was a tactic used by a band of some pirates that were responsible for a bunch of cargo thefts. Once the stones had enough power, they acted as bombs.

However if you were to put a set in a room, the room could act as a cage. With one's own magick as the bars and key.

This made finding them in our chamber all that more enraging. If he succeeded, and I used my magick while in my chamber, I would've been trapped. So would have Jess.

After I calmed down, Gladier made another interesting find. Seems as though the seer from the market has had many visitors. Including the Meylo's father. It's why he faked his death and did all of this. He received a prophecy from the seer. Gladier showed Jess and I the entry. He went to into a lot of detail about something about being certain roles or pieces that we all had.

I froze when I saw my eldest brother Radi's name written in there. According to the seer, he was what she called the first domino, the one who would set everything in motion. My father and Meylo's father would be bishops, whatever that means. The seer would name other roles and their positions. Knights, rooks, and pawns. It was the last two roles though that captured all our attention.

The King and Queen. It had Meylo's name and my name written next to them.

I do understand the King role for Meylo since he is heir to the throne for Baldir. Of course though, I believe it goes beyond that. However, I don't understand how I fit into the role. I have royal blood in me but I have four siblings who are first in the line of succession before me.

I kept thinking about it until it started giving me a headache.

Once the throbbing became too intense, I decided to go forward on my idea with the runes. Firstly, I need the journal from Meylo's father and then I need to see about another book about crafting. Second thing I needed, space. A lot of it. Nothing to worry about, but I need to test out these little devices to make sure they work. Also, just in case one of them goes boom before I need it to.

I left Gladier and Jess with the rest of the journals and went looking for everything I needed.

About two hours later, a bit of negotiations with Glad and lots of hauling of materials, I settled in an open field with my bodyguard. Any guess on who that could be..?

"Just what is it that you're trying to accomplish with these devices?" His tone light.

I was trying to melt two edges of metal together without damaging its stability. "Hopefully, if I can get them to work, I'll be able to trap a bird the same way I would have been." I say while trying to keep the bit of anger from my voice.

"Once trapped what then?"

That's where some hope and optimisim comes. "Well Jess said that it's a curse that's causing all this violence and derrangement. A curse that can infect others like it's some kind of sickness. Jess is working on a way to reverse it, cure it. So, my hope is that once the bird is caged the spell I placed besides the runes would keep them asleep until the cure is able to be administered."

Even as I say it out loud, I can feel that we are going to need a lot more than hope and optimisim.
