"You pick up your censored vests here. You choose your color according to teams. After you get your guns, there will be a thirty second pause before the game begins for you all to get to your separate sides." The employee mumbled out.

He was the same guy that was here when Cole and I came. He had his same monotone, bored voice and he lazily gestured around to the vests.

When we walked in, he looked extremely annoyed that a bunch of teenagers were piling into this children's laser tag center. He sent bitter looks to Cole and I, but we didn't care.

The guy was particularly tired and frumpy-looking today. He had a bit of stubble on his chin, his curly hair was sticking out of his uniform hat and his clothes seemed too big for him. After his speech, he sat behind his little worker podium and started scrolling through his cellphone.

"So, how are we doing the teams?" Cole asked our group.

"Cal couldn't come, so we have an odd number." Robyn said.

"Every man for himself?" John suggested.

Chrissy shook her head quickly.

"No, that's a horrible idea." She said and John glared at her.

"How about girls against guys." Chase said with a wide grin.

"There's one more guy than there are girls." Robyn said after counting everyone.

"Well, we don't want to beat you girls too badly. So how about Zander goes on your team. Then you have six." Cole said with a smirk.

Zander happily strutted over and stood next to Chrissy.

"Okay. But you're going to regret saying that, Cole." I poked him in the chest.

I grinned at my team as we went to get our vests. We chose blue vests and the guys got red. Rebecca stayed quiet the entire time, and my friends kept sending me questioning glances that I ignored.

Rebecca huffed in frustration beside me and I looked over to her. Some of her hair got caught into the Velcro on her vest and she was struggling to get it out.

"Great." She muttered.

I moved over to help her when someone else beat me to it.

"Someone seems to have gotten themselves into a little predicament, hm?" Chase started to help her untangle her hair and I smiled.

I was glad to see that someone was warming up to her, even if it was just for today. I knew we weren't going to be the best of friends, but I hoped that we could at least be civil after this. She had done some pretty harsh things to me, but I acted the same way to her. We were both to blame.

Rebecca's eyes were narrowed in confusion as Chase gently pulled her hair from the vest. He pulled the last strand out and she mumbled a quiet 'thank you.'

"Uh, here." Chrissy pulled a hair tie off of her wrist and handed it to her.

She stared at it in surprise.

"Put your hair up so it won't get stuck in the Velcro again." Chrissy spoke again since Rebecca still hadn't taken the tie.

Rebecca grabbed it from Chrissy's hand and began pulling her hair back into a pony tail. I could tell she was still in shock over the way everyone was acting. She probably expected them to all freeze her out or throw insults at her the whole time.
