Chapter 14:

"Ronnie!"

"Trishy!"

I winced and took a step back so that I wouldn't get knocked down by the screaming girls not even a foot away from me.

"Alright kids, let's tone it down a little bit." Andrew said with a small chuckle.

"Oh, hush up!" Patricia, Andew's mom said. "We haven't seen eachother in the longest time."

"It's been like two days!" Andrew stated.

"Well we have to make up for the lost time when they moved away!" His mom shot back.

We all rolled our eyes.

"Okay girls let's take this into the lounge, shall we?" Andrew's dad, Matthew said gesturing down the hall towards the lounge.

The house was pretty big. It was a two story five bedroom two bathroom with a large kitchen, dining room, living room, a lounge room, and a basement. A lot bigger than my house.

"Dinner will be ready in about a half hour, is that cool with you guys?" Patricia asked.

"Yeah, thank you" I replied. She smiled warmly at me before walking over and pulling me into a hug.

"You are so adorable, Natty. And so so sweet!" She sqeezed me so tightly that I could barely breathe.

I didn't bother replying. I knew she wasn't expecting me to either. She always acted like this, giving random compliments or hugs.

"Well, we best be off!" She said finally releasing me.

"Okay bye my sweet children! We're off to be irresponsible adults. See you at dinner!" My mom called, pulling Patricia along with her.

I crossed my arms and bit my lip, trying not to look at Andrew. I wasn't sure if we were on speaking terms or not but I didn't want to be the one to break the silence. I didn't do anything wrong. I waited a few seconds for him to say something before looking up to find him staring off in the other direction. I huffed in annoyance and made my was to the living room to sit until dinner was ready.

I heard him sigh behind me. "Wait, Natalia," I had almost made it to the couch when he pulled me back.

I raised my eyebrow in quesetion and soon found myself staring into his deep grey eyes. He seemed to be searching for something, but I couldn't ask what. I couldn't do anything, like I was in a transe.

Suddenly he released my arm and stepped back.

"Nothing." I tried not to let the disappointment show on my face as he turned and walked out of the room.

I pursed my lips and crossed my arms, trying to force down the feeling that was rising in my stomach. It was weird. Like a pit of....sadness? No, I was probably just upset that we were still fighting. He was my best friend after all.

I sat on the couch lost in my own thoughts when I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I looked up and his eyes met mine. He held my gaze for a few seconds before turning away and making his way into the kitchen.

A wave of anger washed over me. What gave him the right to be mad at me? I didn't do anything! He was the one who decided to start a fight out of nothing!

I stood up from the couch and quickly followed behind him.

"What is your problem?" I asked angrily.

He turned to me, his expression confused before turning blank. "What?"

I narrowed my eyes. "Don't act all clueless, you know exactly what I'm talking about."
