~ ~ ~

The morning light shone brightly in my face and I groaned. I rolled over and looked at my alarm clock only to find myself sprinting around my room a second later after seeing that I only had about eight minutes to get ready.

With all of my over-thinking the night before, I must have forgotten to set my alarm.

I jumped around like an injured grasshopper grabbing clothes and throwing them on. Four minutes later I had on an oversized grey sweater with black polka dots and a pair of black leggings. Then I ran into my bathroom and quickly ran a brush through my hair but, of course my hair didn't want to cooperate with me so I ended up just throwing it up into a bun. I raced through my morning routine then ran back into my room, grabbing my stuff and slipping into a pair of flats. I stumbled down the stairs, and into the kitchen.

When I entered, I stopped short at the sight of my mother sitting at the table with Cole. I stared at them in confusion. They turned in my direction when they heard me practically fly in.

"Oh good morning." My mom chirped. I stood there, looking to her first, then to Cole, before stopping back on her.

"What's going on here?" I asked as I slowly walked closer.

"Oh, well I didn't want this nice young man to have to wait for you outside, so I had him come inside." She told me.

I nodded slowly, trying to make sense of this weird situation. My mom turned to Cole, "Are you sure you aren't hungry, sweetie?"

Cole nodded, "Yeah, I ate before I came here, but thank you."

"Well, as fun as this has been I think that we should go, right?" I asked Cole.

"Yeah, we probably should or we'll be late." He said, standing up from the table.

We bid my mother goodbye and made our way to the front door. Cole and I walked down the driveway toward his car and I glanced down the street. Just as I was about to get into the car I saw Andrew walking out of his house. His eyes met mine and he stared me. His gaze moved over to Cole with a look of confusion before coming back to me.

I quickly ducked into the passenger seat of the car and Cole followed, unaware of my small interaction with Andrew.

Today when I got out of the car it was like de ja vu. Everyone was staring again. I didn't really understand why, since I wasn't with Andrew today. I figured it must be Cole, or his car, or both. I decided it would be better to ignore it.

Cole and I walked into the school and went our separate ways to our own lockers. I twisted the combination that I'd spent two hours on Monday memorizing and opened my locker. I grabbed my first period book and went off to class.

There was something that I hadn't realized the first two days of school. Some of Rebecca's friends were in this class and they made it very clear that they weren't too fond of me.

Before I could further analyze the situation, someone sat in the desk next to mine and I looked over at them. It was a girl. She had dark brown hair and almost golden brown eyes. She took of her backpack and immediately got out her notebook and pencil, ready for the class period.

This is the perfect chance to make friends, Natalia! My subconscious told me. I turned in my seat to talk to her. Don't mess up. I took a deep breath and smiled at her.

"Hi." I said to her. So far so good.

She slowly looked over to me. "Hi." She replied to me, a small smile growing on her face.

"I'm Natalia." I held out my hand to her. Her smile grew as she shook it.

"I'm Robyn." She visibly relaxed and sat back in her seat. "Are you that girl that everyone's talking about? The one who yelled at Andrew Vasquez?" She asked me.

I sighed and shrugged. "I guess. I didn't think it was that big of a deal."

That was a lie. I knew how popularity worked, I was aware of how stupid it was to go against Andrew. I had just kind of hoped that everyone would overlook my little outburst. Apparently that wasn't happening.

"Well, it is." She said. "Andrew is kind of a big deal around here."

"I just don't get it. What makes him so special?" I asked in frustration. I'd even tried figuring it out with Brianna. How could someone become so powerful, and in high school of all places?

"Have you seen him?" she asked me exasperatedly.

I sighed. "That can't be the only reason."

He had the looks, yes, but how could that have gotten him the entire school under his thumb? Brianna was incredibly beautiful, and that helped her gain her social status, but she kept it with her manipulative qualities.

"I mean, I know he's nice physically, but doesn't his not-so-charming personality kind of ruin it?" I asked.

Robyn laughed. "Apparently not, yesterday this girl with a locker next to mine yelled at me because I blocked her camera when she tried taking a picture of him." We both laughed, but we were cut short by the teacher beginning the lesson. It was boring of course, being Geography.

After one long class period the teacher, Mrs. Brasdon, gave us the last three or four minutes to chat amongst ourselves. Robyn turned to me.

"So, do you want to sit with me and my friends at lunch?" She asked me, taking me completely by surprise.

"Yeah, that sounds fun." I smiled.
