Arthur was watching, while Merlin destroyed all the training dummies on the field, repaired them again, and fought against Percival, Lancelot, and Gwaine. He had never seen his friend like this, but he understood, somehow. If something like this would have happend to Gwen, or something would go wrong during the birth... He would act exactly the same.
"Merlin, you seem unstopable," Leon said when Merlin had destroyed the twentieth dummy.
"Try being me, you would understand."
The Knights laughed, and Merlin started to repair the dummy again.
"Feeling better?" Elyan asked.
"Much better. I can't believe Gwen cleared the entire area, specially for me to blow steam off."
"You're the strongest sorcerer in Camelot. You could also have destroyed the entire castle."
Everyone started laughing again. Merlin continued fighting with Elyan, while Leon sat down next to Arthur.
"There is something you should know," Leon said. In short, Leon told Arthur what had happend when they had accompanied to Gaius his chambers, and what Merlin had said.
"He said something is coming upon us. Do you think he is hiding something?"
Arthur looked at Merlin, who was still fighting with Elyan.
"Merlin has hidden a lot of things in the past, mostly to protect people. If he is hiding something, I think it is with good reason."
Gwaine was laughing, because Merlin had accidentily dropped his sword. His laugh disappeared, when Merlin blow Gwain's sword out of his hands with a simple incantation.
"Enough now," Arthur said. "Time for dinner."

That evening after dinner, Merlin sat the entire night next to Lucy.
"I know it has begun," he said. "And I know we will be walking the same path together, but... I am affraid, Lucy. I am affraid, because I don't know how we might end up."
She seemed very peacefull in her unconcious state, but Merlin knew that could as easily be a lie. Maybe she was in pain. Maybe she was even looking at him from another world. He didn't know.
In bed, he started reading his book of magic again. Whatever would happen to them, he should not be affraid for the future. It was for the good of Camelot and Arthur, and that was all what mattered.

"Merlin, Arthur is waiting for you, get out of bed."
The old man had knocked on the door of his ward's room, and went back to Lucy, who had developed a serious fever that night.
"Gaius!"
Gaius stood up again, and entered Merlin his room.
"Merlin-"
He stopped speaking when he saw the face of the boy.
"I can't move my legs anymore," Merlin said, almost crying. "I'm... I'm paralysed."

That night, Arthur left the castle on his own, to the spot were he had encountered Kilgharrah, the old dragon.
Something was coming, the maid of his wife was sick, his wife started to get suspicious, and his own servant was paralysed, out of nothing. Merlin had given him the three bundles in case he needed guidance when he wouldn't be able to give that to him, and something... Something told Arthur it had everything to do with the old dragon.
"Never thought I would ever do this."
He took the bundle he had taken with him, and opened it carefully. In the little sack was a bit of powder. Arthur did it in his hand, and blew it away in the wind.
His feeling had been right. At the night sky, he could see the shadow of a dragon, and a few minutes later, the old dragon Kilgharrah landed in front of him.
"The young warlock had said he had given you three opportunities to summon me, young king," Kilgharrah said. "Even though, it surprises me to see you."
"I..."
Arthur said nothing for a while, and the old dragon understood that something was troubling him.
"I can see that something is troubling you, young king?"
"Everything is going wrong, and... You know, this is something I would never do under normal circumstances. But Merlin trusts you, and wanted me to go to you if I needed guidance when he can't give that, so here I am."
"What is it you are looking for?" The dragon asked.
"Something is wrong with Merlin and Lucy, my wife is getting suspicious of everything, we haven't heard from Morgana, and I have the strange feeling... Something is coming, isn't it?"
"It sounds like you have a lot of trouble, Arthur. And indeed, something is coming. It is with reason you haven't heard from Morgana in such a long time, and both Merlin and Lucy have to play their parts in this event."
"Do you know what is going on with them?" Arthur asked
"Their bodies are preparing them for what is about to come."
"But, we thought about a sickness-"
"Oh Arthur, it has nothing to do with a sickness. Indeed, they will suffer. Both Lucy and Merlin will suffer like no man ever has, only to evolve."
"To... Evolve?" Arthur asked.
"They will reach new powers, the strength of thousands of men, to end their evolving when the time has come."

It was dawn, when Arthur returned to the castle. Much more wiser. Also more affraid.
