Weeks passed.
Elena was at Whitmore, held captured by a spell after Kathrine injected the body with the Ripper virus.
Damon was back in the cellar at the Boarding house.

Caroline was in Richmond to look for an antidote, while Stefan was keeping an eye on Elena, leaving Madelyn alone at the Boarding house with Jeremy, Matt and Tyler.

The three boys took shifts feeding Damon with Madelyn and Stefan's blood. She didn't spend much time in the cellar. It just reminded her of the crazy world they were living in. That they would never get to live a life without any drama. Each time they finally found some peace and happiness, someone or something would swoop in and destroy it.

Madelyn was reading in the foyer, just to be sure to be there, if Caroline returned with the antidote. The front door opened, and she instinctively turned around to look.

"Enzo." She said a bit surprised, and also a bit disappointed. She closed the book and turned back to him.

"I have the antidote. Where's Damon?" He asked. Relief washed over her, as she heard the word "antidote."

"He's in the basement. Why do you have it? Where's Caroline?" Madelyn asked confused.

"The Travelers took the antidote after Wes died, and to get it, they wanted something in return." Enzo explained.

"I swear I'll kill you if you did anything to her." She hissed, jumping to her feet.

"Easy, Love. I didn't do anything. She's with Stefan." Enzo answered.

"Stefan?" She said confused.

"Long story short. The Travelers want to kill Stefan's doppelgänger, so they needed to link Stefan, to track down the doppelgänger." Enzo explained.

"What? Why?" Madelyn asked getting more and more confused by the second.

"Because they want the blood from the two last remaining doppelgängers." Enzo answered.

Madelyn sighed in confusion.
"I don't really want to know. Just give Damon the antidote." She said, before turning in her seat.

Madelyn poured herself a drink and walked to the fireplace. She was lost in thought as Damon and Enzo returned from the basement.

She slowly turned around by the sound of their footsteps.

"Hey." Damon greeted softly.

"I'm going to head out." Enzo said before walking to the door.

"Enzo?!" Madelyn called out, just as he opened the door, making him stop and look at her.

- "Thank you."

He just replied with a smile, before he headed out.

Madelyn quickly drowned her drink and placed the empty glass on the table behind her.

"How are you feeling?" Madelyn asked Damon as he slowly walked towards her.

"I feel great." Damon answered in his usual tone.

"But you don't seem to feel so great. Haven't you missed me?" Damon said smirking, a bit insecure.

Madelyn sighed. "It's all just so crazy, you know."

"It's going to be fine." Damon said stepping towards her.

"For the first time, in all the time we spent together, I felt scared of you." She said as she started to pace around, leaving a shocked expression on Damon's face.

"And Elena's back. And now there's another supernatural threat. It's all just so messed up, Damon." Madelyn said frustrated.

"There's always something." She sighed, feeling the tears in her eyes.
