I shoot up and walk in front of Joshua, who was stuttering in a state of nervousness.
"Um, excuse me Vicky. But I don't ever recall hearing Joshua liked you." I said. My heart beats rapidly, I can't believe I just said that.
" Oh yeah huh? Why wouldn't he like me? I'm the prettiest and most popular in school. Do you really think he's going to like an ugly little freak like you? No boy has ever liked you, and none every will. So I suggest to go crawl back to that rock where you came from, you slug." Vicky said with an evil smirk. I felt my eyes sting and my throat ache. I took a step back.
" How can you say that?" Joshua asks with his eyebrows knitted together. " Kiki is the most beautiful girl I've ever met and if it weren't for her I wouldn't be in a good home. The only slug here is you with that horrible attitude of yours. I never want to hear you speak to Kiki like that ever again. And I do not want you to come after me." Joshua then takes my hand and leads me out the school doors, leaving Vicky with her jaw hanging open. I look at Joshua in shock.
" Wow... I can't believe you just did that." I say finally. Joshua smiles weakly.
" I couldn't take what she said to you... I've never spoken up like that before." He said. I notice he still is gripping my hand firmly as we walk. I feel a blush wash over my cheeks.
" Thank you." I said softly.
" Of course. I'd do anything for you Kiki...." Joshua said.
"Why?" I ask. Joshua stays quiet as we reach the house.
" Because... not only did you save me, and have given me a home... but I...I like you.. a lot." A poof of smoke covers Joshua, and then he emerges with his cute cat ears and his tail poking out. I look at him with my eyes huge.
" R-really?"
" Yes." He's now red and can't look at me in the eye. I walk to him and wrap my arms around him. I bite my lip as a feel tears spill down my cheeks, I let out a soft sob. Joshua cups my face and looks worried.
" Why are you crying?" He asks wiping some tears with his thumb.
" B-because, all my life I've wanted to know how love was like... and a lot of people told me I'd never have it because I was to ugly or that guys prefer girls who weren't smarter than them. But now you say you like me and I can't believe it." I said with a slight smile. Joshua gives me a smile, before leaning in to brush his lips against mine. I close my eyes, savoring the moment. He pulls away, leaving me breathless.
" Well, you better believe it. You're beautiful, and I'm glad you're smart. If you weren't who would've fixed my arm?" He said as I laugh slightly. Joshua pecks my forehead as he hugs me tighter. We stay in our apartment for the rest of the day, doing homework, cuddling and being in love.
So this is what love feels like huh? Well, I know that I'll never ever let go of this amazing feeling. I've finally found it.
