A.N. This is only about a week after she finds Bonnie and Twill.

It was a cold, winter day, when I first saw the wing. The wing of a mockingjay in flight. Except it wasn't just any mockingjay, it was on a report from district thirteen, and where was it? In the top left corner. Just where Bonnie and Twill said it would be. It raised my suspicion on wether or not district thirteen could be real, but I still kept my hopes low.

Yet here I am; watching the tv with Peeta, and what comes on? A news report from district thirteen and the mockingjay flies by once again. Maybe it is alive, but is it possible? Is it possible for a district to live through a bombing, without the Capitol knowing?

"Don't you think so?" I hear him finish his sentence and wait for my response, but I'm not listening. "Kat, are you okay?" He shakes my shoulder slightly and I numbly nod my head.
"Yeah, let's go for a walk." I say getting up and grabbing my coat, ignoring Peeta's questioning look.

"What's on your mind, that's so important we had to leave our home." He asks me as we come to a stop in the meadow. We both know that our houses in the victors village are bugged and it's better to talk in the meadow. I lay down in the cold, green grass and close my eyes. Stretching out my hand to find Peeta's, hoping to interlock our fingers together. I hear the grass crinkle underneath him as he lays down next to me.

"There's something I haven't told you yet." I turn my face, so that we are mere inches from each other. "Remember when you found me stranded in the woods?" He nods his head and I continue to explain. "I never told you what happened out there."
"Why do you keep all these secrets from me?" He whispers with such a disappointed face. "It's not your job to protect me, it's mine to protect you." His grip on my hand slackens and I instantly feel colder without his touch.
"Peeta, I wanted to tell you, but I just never found the chance. Please don't be mad." I plea with him, hoping he'll see my side of the story. "I was at the lake when two women dressed as peacekeepers appeared out of the woods." His face becomes full of anger and he sits up with a jolt.

"Peacekeepers! Katniss, you could have been killed, our child could have been killed!" He says with a hard and detached voice. I shake my head at him and grab his hand, keeping him seated.
"No, they weren't actually peacekeepers, they were factory workers from district 8." His face slackens and he relaxes, but he is still mad, I can see it in his eyes. "When the districts began to rebel, they escaped and planned to find safety else where." He waits for me to continue, but I look to my left at the ice covered ground and exhale a breath, watching it disappear in the air. "They said they were fleeing to district thirteen." I lock eyes with his enchanting, blue irises.
"District thirteen doesn't exist, it was destroyed years ago." He states matter of factly.

"I know, that's what I thought too, until I saw the mockingjay." His normally calm face, contorts into a puzzled and confused look.
"Mockingjay? Katniss, what are you talking about?"
"They said that in every report from the district a mockingjay flies by in the same exact spot. I thought that they were crazy, but I've seen it, Peeta. Twice." He stands up and offers his hand to me, to pull me off of the ground. He moves to let go of my hand, but I tighten my grip, making it impossible for him to let go.

"You're saying that district thirteen is still alive, and your proof is a bird?" He asks as we walk out of the meadow and onto the dirt road. "Katniss, that's not possible." His breath evaporates in the air and mine follows.
"I know, I thought so too, but maybe it's possible. Peeta, sometimes you have to have hope, you taught me that." I whisper as I stop us in the road. "Life isn't always black and white, you have to have a shade of gray."

"Katniss, even if the district is alive what are we going to do? We can't escape district twelve, we'd be killed in days. There's no point in even thinking about it, no point at all." I stare at the ground and try to ignore the feeling of my heart sinking.
"I know you have your mind set on thinking it's destroyed, but let's ask Haymitch what he thinks and then we'll go from there." I say hoping he'll agree.
"Fine, but if he denies knowing anything, then that's it, Katniss. No more talking about district thirteen." I nod my head eagerly and give him a shy smile, with the feeling of my heart rising just the slightest.

The sky is a bright blue, but not as bright as his eyes. The wonderfully, bright eyes that shine through the sunny meadow. His hair is a golden, sandy blonde that curls at the ends and stands out in the soft, green grass. I come to a stop, from dancing with the two kids and watch as the man comes closer. Somewhere in the distance I hear the two children giggling as the they run off to play, but my eyes stay glued to his. Silver, gray eyes lock with ocean, blue ones. His smile is full and bright, almost contagious. His shoulders are broad and they sway as he comes closer. I wait for him too meet me in the field of flowers, but he doesn't. Instead, he starts to fade away....almost as if he was never there.

The sun shines through the curtains of the room, as I turn over and I yawn while stretching. My hand finds Peeta's side of the bed empty and my heart drops at the coldness of the sheets. But the slight scent of cheesebuns fills the air and my mouth begins to water. Of course he'd be up before me, with breakfast made. It's just another reason he is too good for me, he will always be too good for me.

I admire him from the staircase as he kneads the cheesy dough, for the cheesebuns. His bright, blue eyes always shine when he bakes, and I always watch from afar. The scent and mouth watering taste is too much to resist, so I climb down the stairs and walk into our kitchen. He looks up and smiles at me with love. Love that always makes my heart beat a little faster.
"Hey Kat," he says into the cheese aroma filled air. Two simple words, yet they cause a smile to form on my lips that I know will last for eternity.

A.N. Hey everyone so to all my readers that have been following the story from the beginning should have recognized that meadow scene with the kids. In the first book I said that she would be having that dream again and here it is. So hope y'all liked that and also I know Peeta was a little ooc with Katniss, but even though Peeta is sweet and shy I think he can get mad. Everyone does. Also she is now 9 weeks pregnant. Comment and star! :)
Also thanks to mselfie25 and TheDeathlyMockingjay for supporting the story!

Quote from the next chapter is from the one and only Katniss!
