Answers. They come when you least expect it and you find discoveries without even knowing it. The things that seem the most pointless are at the end of the day the most important clues in knowing. By delving into family history I am finding things that are…complicated. I struggle to find any clues or anything that can be off assistance. I am struggling to find time to research or anything. I know I need to talk to someone but I’m not sure who or where to start. Yet like my courageous little Lucille she takes the first leap. And like a natural, I follow. – Jacob Iris

“You don’t know….” Luc trailed off as his face fell slightly, I felt like groaning in frustration. Why must everything be a riddle?

“I don’t know this Jacob Iris dude! Yet here I am pulling out his diary from over 150 years ago in my Pop’s sock box! How the hell does that work?!” I cried panicking as my hands pulled away from the book and my body began to feel colder with anxiety and fear.

Luc catching the mini shiver that ran through me grabbed a hand of mine and massaged the palm of my hand with his thumb soothingly “It’s okay, shhh it’s find.” He soothed me softly, his eyes soft and comforting. “We will seek this out.”

“How?” I moped.

“My mum does family history research sweetheart and she’s right now finding out my relatives from the 1600’s, 1800’s? A piece of cake, we got this.” He said soothingly yet humor in his voice. I just watched him tentatively “C’mon! It will be fun! We’ll get to be true Nancy Drew detectives! I'm excited, are you excited?” he asked with an overload of fake enthusiasm which made me smile faintly.

Luc was right, like usual. We could easily delve into research and find out who this Jacob Iris guy was; after all to research into your family history was quite simple and a lot easier. My issue wasn’t the work but I was rather freaked; was this man even family to me? And if he wasn’t why on earth did Pop hold his possessions? It just didn’t add up, after all in the end holding a diary of secrets that was just like me that I didn’t even know freaked me out the most.

“Thank you Luc….and I'm sorry.” I whispered softly as I pushed the hair from my eyes.

He frowned at me “Sorry? What have you got to be sorry for?” he asked eyeing me with concern.

I sighed “For always being so negative and acting all its 2012 crap.” I murmured.

Luc chortled at that before sighing “Holl I don’t blame you, if I was in your shoes I’d feel worried and isolated too, its okay. I can’t imagine the fear you’ve had thinking for so long that you were some sort of a freak. I understand, besides that’s what I’m here for; to turn that frown upside down!” he cried with an air punch and a wink making me burst out into giggles.

“So what are we going to do now?” I asked once we recovered.

Luc smiled shrugging “How about you try and look for clues in that big ol’ diary of Mr. Iris and I’ll get on your lap top and I'll start looking up….well the Iris family I guess, researching.” He said seriously as I nodded in agreement. “But first I shall demolish that pizza.” He declared reaching over and shoveling a piece in his mouth making me chuckle softly to myself.

So we set into researching whilst Harry Potter played in the background that is, when we weren’t arguing over our favorite characters or what they screwed up in the films and such. We were having some heated debates that were just so intense that we wouldn’t even stop to catch our breaths. I loved every minute of it in all honesty, the passion and intensity of it we held and just how passionate and serious we were it was in the end quite hilarious. I loved how passionate Luc was over things like me and how we could share interests and be so similar and yet were still able to get at one another’s throats and argue with one another. It made things never dull.
