Chapter 18: Nervous, Ice Cream, And Alarm Clocks

I opened the door and walked inside. I took a deep breath and shut the door. Ok, he goes.

I walked into view and looked at Zane and he looked at me, "Hey, Princess."

I bit on my lower lip, "Hi, Zane, why did you want to see me?"

He looked amused and patted the spot next to him. I'd rather not, so I sat in a chair to his left.

"I heard everything you said."

I cocked an eyebrow, "When?"

He looked at me, "When I was in a coma. I couldn't respond, but I heard it," he was biting his lip.

I felt my cheeks heat up, "O-Oh, well I thought you should know I was taking care of Chloe."

He began to grin, "And I thank you for that. I don't know what I would have done if anything happened to her. I don't care what everyone says about you, you took care of my sister, you're alright."

Did I hear that correctly? "T-Thanks.."

I started to walk out, but he grabbed my hand, causing me to stop, "I don't blame you. It wasn't your fault."

I looked at him, "What..?"

He shook his head, "The accident. It was my Dad's fault. Not yours," then he let go of my hand and I walked out, feeling slightly dazed.

I looked at Chloe, "Come on Chlo, let's go.."

"Okie Sissy!" She jumped off the chair and followed me out.

We passed the desk lady, still scowling at my choice of clothes I presumed, and walked out to my car. When we got in, I had to ask Chloe. The suspense was killing me, "So what did you two talk about?"

She thought for a moment. "School, how I was doing, you, the house, everything really."

Me? "What about me?"

She laughed, "Nothing bad, silly. Just if I liked you, and that you were my new sissy!"

I felt relieved, "Oh, ok. Want to get some ice cream?"

She started bouncing up and down on the seat, "Yes!! Yay, ice cream!!"

I laughed and pulled over at Dairy Queen, "Come on, goofball."

She stuck her tongue out at me, "I'm not a goofball!"

I messed with her hair, "Whatever... Goofball."

We walked into Dairy Queen and looked at the menu, "Whatcha want, goofball?"

She tapped her chin, thinking, "A chocolate dipped cone?"

I smiled, "Tell her, not me."

She went up to the lady and ordered, I could tell by her face, this was her first time ordering by herself. I walked up and got a vanilla ice cream.

We went and sat down, eating the ice cream, "It good?" She quickly nodded and continued eating her ice cream.

When we finished we rode back to the house and got ready for school the next morning. Chloe got a shower and I did afterwards. By the time why finished, it was about 9 when I finally got her to lay down.

I set my alarm clock then layed in bed. I don't want to go to school tomorrow. People are there. Like Ash, and Brandon, and Luke... But I guess it will be good for me, I've missed a lot. I haven't seen everyone since the party Saturday night. I wonder how tomorrow will go...

And that's how I passed out, wondering.
