Pietro's POV
3am...

I'm woken up by the shaking of the bed and slight mumbling.

I open my eyes and am confused at first then I remembered that we're at the Barton's for the holidays.

"Mom." I hear a feminine voice mumble.

I rub my eyes while turning over and perch up on my elbow.

"No. Don't." The voice pleads. "Mama. Please."

I see Veronica shaking while clutching onto her pillow.

"Vern." I push her slightly but her shaking only gets worst. "Vern." I repeat then roll her over so she's facing me.

I see her face stained with tears while more run down her face and notice that her breathing uneven.

She's having a panic attack while shes sleeping... Is that even possible?

"Veronica." I continue to try to wake her up but it doesn't work.

I take a deep breath and pull the pillow from her grip making her whimper and curl up slightly.

I uncurl her so I can wrap my arms around her and her shaking calms down.

Vern nuzzles into my chest and gets closer to me as I kiss her head and rub her back.

9am...

"Wake up knucklehead." Clint shakes me awake.

"Dispari." I mumble rolling onto my stomach. (Piss off.)

"Watch your language, they're kids around." Barton scolds.

"And Steve." Natasha adds.

"You know what, Romanoff." Steve glares at her from his spot in the kitchen, she shrugs.

"Mom." Cooper speaks up. "What does 'dispari' mean?"

Laura shoots a glare my way as I stand up, fixing my shirt.

"Sorry." I mumble, my voice still groggy.

"Kids, go get dressed." Clint commands.

"Yes, ma'am." Cooper sasses making Lila giggle as they run up the stairs.

"What does dispari even mean?" Steve questions once the kids are out of earshot.

"Wooo." Veronica breathes walking into the living room, brown hair wet and her makeup bag in hand. "You kiss your mother with that mouth?"

"Sorry to rain on your parade but my mother's dead, so." Steve sasses. "No. No, I don't."

"Just an expression, Jesus." She mumbles, faking disappointment as she puts her stuff into her bag.

"Speaking about Gods, when is Thor gonna be here?" Nat questions.

"Christmas Eve." Clint answers.

"Aka tomorrow." Laura adds.

"Where is he going to sleep?" Vern asks.

"Air mattress in the kids' room with Steve." Laura speaks up.

"Speaking about sleeping..." I mutter under my breath. "Tony, can we go talk?" I ask.

Tony raises an eyebrow, "Sure." He stands up and follows me.

Porch...

"I swear to God, if you're here to ask for Veronica's hand in marriage, it's a hell to the n--"

"We're not even dating!" I cut Tony off.

"Neither was Barney and Robin, but he still purposed." He counters. "But then they did get a divorce like 3 years later, so..." He mutters

"Who?" I furrow my eyebrows and put my hands on my hips. "Never mind. Not important."

"Why am I out here, exactly?" Tony runs a hand through his hair.

"Veronica had a nightmare last night that led to a panic attack and her crying."

"What-what was the nightmare about that resulted her into having a panic attack?" Tony asks worriedly.

"I don't know, I haven't had a chance to. But she was mumbling stuff about her mom."

Tony sighs while walking to the porch's fence thing around it and gripping it.

"What'd you do to help her then?"

"I tried to wake her up but she just started shaking and clutching onto her pillow even more so I just pulled the pillow away and held her." I explain. "That seemed to calm her down."

He just sighs and stares forward.

"I thought I would come to you since you've have a history of panic attacks and you're her dad." I admit.

"I'll... I'll try to talk to her." He says.

"I'll send her out then." I start to walk away but Stark stops me. I turn around to see worry etched into her face.

"Not right now. I can't help her with this." He admits.

"Why? She's your daughter."

"Yeah, but she thinks I never wanted her. But I didn't even know she existed." He confesses.

"What?"
