--Chicago's P.O.V--
Aiden's sobs filled the boy's locker room and my heart broke in two as I ran my fingers through his brown hair. "It's okay, Aiden. It's alright."
The boy shook his head, a deafening sob escaping him once more. "It's not okay, Chicago! It's never going to be okay. Josh knows everything now. What if he tells Tyler and Tyler tells Elodie? I'll have to transfer schools again and this school was one that I felt like I belonged in!"
Everybody thinks I'm a boy. Nobody knows any different and now that's all going to change!" Aiden wailed into my shoulder.
"Hush," I hissed, trying to give Aiden a hint without saying it. "You sound like a girl when you cry and if you don't keep it down, everyone will surely know that you aren't a boy."
My tone wasn't mean, but slightly firm. Aiden needed to know that we were in the boy's locker room, the locker room he wanted to be in. If somebody came in here to grab something they forgot or just came to investigate, they would find one girl and a person that certainty sounded like a girl, but everyone knew as a boy.
Aiden pressed his hand against his mouth, trying to muffle the sound as the door flew open to reveal Garrett.
"What's he doing here?" Aiden asked, looking at me. "I don't want him here."
I shook my head, turning back to Garrett. "Let me guess, Lilac told you that we were in here."
He nodded. "I watched you guys run out of the cafeteria, Aiden close to my tears. Lilac came up to my table and told me what was going on and said you guys would probably be in the boy's locker room." He shook his head. "You are so lucky that the boys' basketball team doesn't have practice today because if we did, you guys would be so screwed."
Aiden lifted his head from my shoulder to look at my boyfriend. "Does anybody know about me? Did Josh automatically run and tell his friends?"
Garrett shook his head. "No, Aiden, he didn't. He just sat there in stunned silence. Kailyn was trying to explain to him the situation when I left."
"I can't go back there," Aiden choked out. "I just can't. Everybody is going to wonder what happened. I don't want to be asked questions."
I looked up at Garrett. "Will you drive him home? His parents can't come and get him and he really needs to leave." Asking Garrett to leave and take him home wasn't a good idea. He couldn't afford to miss anymore classes, but Aiden needed to go home.
"Yeah, I will." He reached into his back pocket and pulled out a set of car keys. Aiden perked up. "You mean that I get to ride in your Camaro for the first time ever?"
Garrett nodded. "I'll even let you pick the music, but I draw the line at One Direction, alright?" I helped Aiden stand up and tuck his hair under his hat once again before we followed Garrett out of the locker room.
My arm stayed wrapped around Aiden's shoulders as we walked down the hallway. There were a few people standing around, but they didn't even look our way, which was fantastic.
"Chicago, you can go back into the cafeteria," Aiden told me. "Garrett will take care of me. Besides, you didn't even get to finish eating."
I opened my mouth to protest, but Garrett cut me off with a quick kiss. "Just go. It'll be okay. I'll make sure he gets home and I'll come right back."
I sighed in defeat. "Alright, be careful. I love you both." They both smiled in return and walked into the office while I hurried back into the cafeteria.
Everything was normal and nobody seemed to be bothered by Aiden and I's sudden departure aside from Josh. His head automatically perked up when I pulled my chair out to sit down. "Oh my goodness, Chicago, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to make Aiden feel uncomfortable. I didn't think before I spoke."
