Be prepared for an emotional ride from now to the end of the book.

--Aiden's P.O.V--

The moment I walked into the Hot Topic, I knew something was wrong. Josh and Chicago were hardly talking to another and they refused to tell me why. It wasn't like they were angry with each other, it was more like awkwardness was present.

I wanted to know what caused the awkwardness because ten minutes before, they both were perfectly okay with one another. However, I wasn't the type to ask questions when it was none of my business. But as soon as possible, I was going to question Chicago until she got so annoyed that she told me everything.

"Did you guys find Garrett a Supernatural shirt?" I asked Chicago as I found her browsing the various necklaces that were on display. Josh was the other side of the store, glancing at band shirts.

"Yeah, I found him a tank top that had a collage of all the characters on it," she responded. "He'll be a bit unhappy to find out that there's more of Dean on it than Sam, but regardless, he'll like it a lot."

I nodded, shifting the bags that I was holding. "That's good. Are we almost ready to go then? I told my mom that I would be back home by three at the latest."

Chicago glanced over in Josh's direction, a strange look on her face. "Yeah, we can go. Joshua!"

The boy's blue head popped up at the sound of her voice. I noticed that he too had a strange look on his face as he met Chicago's eyes. "It's time to leave!"

He nodded, heading towards the exit. Chicago and I quickly followed after him and even when we started heading towards the car, Josh and Chicago still hadn't said a word to each other. I didn't know what to do. The thought of heading all the way home in dead silence was horrendous, but I couldn't just ask what was wrong out of the blue. Even if I did, I knew Chicago wouldn't tell me anything.

The ride home was as I expected; dead silent. Chicago and I said a few words to each other, but the most of time, Josh had the radio turned up to block us out. I adored his music taste. It was pretty much the same as Garrett's except his was a bit more heavier than Josh's.

Chicago loved Garrett; I knew that. He was absolutely devoted to her, but somewhere deep down, Josh was causing a issue between them. It was very easy to tell that Josh liked Chicago more than a friend and Garrett could see it too because he brought the subject up to me awhile ago.

He trusted his girlfriend, but he didn't trust Josh. He didn't dislike Josh either; he actually liked him quite a lot, but he was afraid that he might try to make a move on Chicago. If he did that, Garrett wouldn't hesitate to hurt him just to put him in his place.

It was kinda like Garrett and Josh were fighting to see who would end up being alpha male. You could feel it in the air when they were both around Chicago at the same time. They wanted to see who would win in the end.

The moment we pulled into my driveway, I breathed a sigh of relief. I no longer had to be in a silent car. Of course, my house wasn't any better, but at least my parents normally left me alone.

I climbed out of the backseat of Josh's car, my backpack on my back and multiple bags in my hands. "Thank you for inviting me to go to the mall with you guys. It means a lot that you guys thought of me."

Chicago smiled at me, reaching out her window to squeeze my arm. "No problem, Aiden. You are always invited, alright? Remember that." Before I could respond, she mouthed something that looked a lot like "I'll tell you everything later, I promise."

I nodded. "I'll see you both at school Monday." i gave Josh a little wave as I started up my front porch. "See ya, Aiden," he mumbled, no emotion on his face.
