[A/N: Max in the side pic. Thank you to YumNakedLarry for making the covers! There is another I will show in the next chapter.

Now! Sorry this took a while, I had a hard time trying to figure out Leo. I've started planning his story and I have to keep that in mind.

Dedicated to DreamMango, for going all the way to my other page and liking the 'not a story' thing! That was unexpected and Kinda awesome. Cheers!]

Max's POV

Magnus hung up the phone before turning to us. "We have a problem. We could meet at her house but she says the kids don't know and your mother is right across the street. It would be difficult to send them there without your mother wanting to know why. We could meet here, but when he finds out, he might freak out at the knowledge that he is surrounded by wolves and this could cause him to shift early. I would rather he shift after he's had time to adjust."

He looked at me questioningly and I inhaled deeply, trying to puzzle this out. I glanced at Gunnar, looking for guidance, but he just looked back at me. When I realized everyone was waiting for me to decide, I panicked briefly before Gunnar squeezed my hand. I relaxed and mentally berated myself for almost freaking out. Hadn't I been wishing that they would stop treating me like a sub? Or that I would stop acting like one?

"Um..." I cleared my throat uncomfortably, "Um, can you uh," I stumbled desperately for a word, "Can you calm his wolf with yours? Like, if he starts to panic, so he doesn't shift?" Great. So much for being confidant and not submissive.

Gunnar looked uncomfortable, as did Magnus. "I would have to make him submit." Magnus stated. Kate tensed and I frowned.

"What's wrong with that?" I glanced between Gunnar, Magnus and Kate, confused. "It's just a lot of growling, right?"

Gunnar shook his head. "In order for Leo's wolf to submit to him fully he has to be pack. Which means Magnus would have to give him the pack bite. Which could work. Or it could completely terrify him. An Alpha's mark hurts like a bitch. It's not like a mating mark." He rubbed his shoulder and my eyes narrowed. I pulled his sleeve to the side and noticed a very faint bite mark. It was so faint I was certain my human eyes wouldn't be able to see it if I wasn't a wolves mate.

I swallowed uncomfortably. "How come I haven't been given this mark?"

"You're not a wolf. The Alpha's mark is to let their wolf know who's boss." Gunnar said, rubbing my hand with his thumb. I tried not to let it distract me. Kate nodded in agreement.

"Humans get all their instincts and abilities and all that jazz from their mate." She added. I nodded, pretending this all made sense.

"Let's go there." I jumped back to our original conversation. "I'll make something up if mom asks. Let's not... freak him out too much."

Magnus stared at me for a moment before picking up the phone and calling Aunt Nic back.

After he hung up we all headed outside, where Elin was trying to figure out how to install a car seat. Phillip held a baby with shocking orange hair. He seemed to be purring while he rocked him back and forth slowly. I wandered over.
