Promise Me

Spending an entire month in one state was good and bad, sure it was fun, but it wasn't pleasant when you had about 20 horses to ride every week. But, overall, I really enjoyed it, Hugo and I were doing great! We even moved up to showing in 1.50m! Also, I was lucky enough to take home another horse, his name is Vive Londres aka London.

As for this Toronto thing with Ashleigh, the idea kept getting better and better. Sure I had fought the idea, but now that I actually had time to sit down and think about, I really saw why she wanted to move. It was pretty much official now, sometime next month Ashleigh and I were moving.

Just breaking the news to everyone was what I was absolutely terrified about, so much so that I had to ask Ashleigh if she would tell Dan.

And I quickly realized how bad that idea was.

It's been a couple days and I haven't heard from Dan, no calls no text messages, nothing. Of course, being the person I was, I completely jumped to conclusions, thinking he was out and about with someone else.

But thank God I had Kyle.

"Hey, do you happen to know where Dan is?" I asked when he answered the phone.

He stayed quiet for a second, "No, why?"

"Stop lying, he's next to you and I know it," I remarked, acknowledging the pause.

"Yeah, but he's not happy with you. You know that, right?" Kyle said softly.

I nodded, "I know, it was a bastard move on me. Could I talk to him, though?"

There was a pause on the other end before I heard Dan say a soft hello when he got the phone.

"I'm really sorry," I said, chewing on my lower lip. "I wasn't thinking about anything when I told Ashleigh to tell you."

He let out a deep breath, "Look, I'll be over at your place in about an hour and we can talk about this, okay?"

"Yeah, sounds good. Bye." I said, hanging up and sitting quietly on my couch and just thinking about what I could say, anything to make this better.

Staying true to his word, Dan knocked on my door in an hour's time. I quickly got up from my place on the couch and answered the door, allowing him inside before closing the door.

"Look, I know I should've told you in person, but I was scared of what might happen-"

"I'm not mad at you," Dan said quietly, looking up at me. "I, just, I want to make sure this is something you want to do?"

I took in a deep breath before nodding my head, "I know it's a risky move since we're starting completely over and such, but I want to ensure myself a solid career, since the place we have now is only until the lease ends."

"I know," He said.

"Are you okay with it?" I asked, stepping a bit closer to him.

"Why wouldn't I? I want whatever is best for you, and you're obviously going to benefit from it." Dan stated, taking my hands in his.

I smiled, letting go of his hands before hugging him tightly, "Thank you."

Dan hugged me back just as tight, "Just promise me we'll try and make a long distance thing work?"

"I promise."

I really can't thank you enough, considering that I finally came back to writing with a book that I'm actually happy with and one that I'll finish for sure. So thank you! And happy reading!
