CHARACTER POSTER - Iron Man
"Ultron knows we're coming," I began. "Odds are we'll be riding into heavy fire. And that's what we signed up for. But the people of Sokovia didn't. So our priority is getting them out. All they want is to live their lives in peace. And that's not gonna happen today. But we can do our best to protect them. And we can get the job done. We find out what Ultron's been building. We find Andi, and we clear the field. Keep the fight between us."
The team looked at me expectantly as I paused. I took a breath. "Ultron thinks we're monsters, and we're what's wrong with the world. This isn't just about beating him. It's about whether he's right."
I turned to Barton. He leapt into the pilot seat of the quinjet, and we took off to Sokovia.
The plan ride was in silence. The air was filled with anticipation. There were hundreds of thousands of lives in the balance. We were all nervous. But there was no room for that. We had to wear our game faces for this battle. We had to win.
Natasha edged close to me. "We'll get her back."
"I know," I sighed, adjusting my arm through my shield grips. "What the hell was she thinking?"
"She saved me, Steve. That's what she was thinking. She's an Avenger, and a protector of humanity before that. You can't seriously expect her to put her life first. You know as well as I do that she won't."
