My eyes fluttered open. Darkness enveloped me as I embraced the night. Moonlight filtered through my window, shedding milky beams and casting away the shadows into their homes of darkness.

I struggled to sit upright. I was sore all over. My limbs felt like heavy cinderblocks; they cried out with every movement I made. I still ached, even a month after the Sokovia Incident and no training whatsoever. And such pain only occurred after rest.

I pulled the sheet up to cover all that was exposed as I hugged my knees. Steve sighed next to me, the sheet brushing across his torso to reveal chiselled muscles.

I smiled. It felt amazing to finally accept what we had after months of brushing it off and ignoring our feelings. We were happy, truly happy. It made me excited for our future. I didn't know what was going to happen between us (I refused to cheat and have a quick look). But I had a feeling that we were going to be together for as long as we could be. We had a bond that was unbreakable, a bond that had been through so much that it was impossible to shatter. We made it through thick and thin together, through hard battles and wars, through evil villains. And we would continue to fight for what was right until we could no more. Together.
