deciding things was something derek hale had done many times. it was a fairly simple thing, just choosing between two things. but usually when he had to chose between things it wasn't deciding whether someone was going to live or die.
derek was being forced to chose between paige his current girlfriend or y/n his best friend since birth. the two girls currently had claws to each of their necks as derek was being forced to pick one or they would both die.
paige and y/n were definitely two different people. not only did paige have the only guy y/n had ever wanted but paige was alive.
derek hale made the worst mistake of his life. he killed his bestfriend.

the wolf's claws were stabbed into y/n's chest as tears rolled down her face. she looked down just in time to see the wolf pull his hand out of her stomach. "derek?" she cried out. it was too late though as she felt the pain of being stabbed again and again.
her limp body slowly fell to the ground, blood everywhere as tears rolled down the girl's face. "i love y-you." she whispered to derek before her eyes shut for a final time.
"no wait!" derek cried out as he looked into her lifeless eyes. he held her body in his hands and sobbed. he screamed and cried as the werewolves disappeared leaving only him and paige alone. not only was his bestfriend dead but so was the love of his life.
the next day he realized how much of a wrong choice he made when paige died from the bite.
