Chapter Twenty-Five - Beeping
Mackenzie's POV
A few weeks have passed and Maddie's condition has remained the same. Alive, yet unresponsive.
My mother had basically turned into a visual representation of a living zombie.
All she did was mope around, not bothering to eat, sleep, or even shower for that matter.
She just constantly worried about Maddie.
"Mom! Can you actually do something for once? All you do is mope around and parent terribly! Isn't this what led to Maddie's suicide attempt in the first place?" I screamed, frustrated.
I didn't wait for my mother's reaction, as I stormed out of the room and downstairs to the cafeteria.
I silently bit into an apple, watching as several patients ate away with family.
Suddenly, the loud noise of the intercom interrupted everyone, "Dr. Harding, please report to Room 121, immediately. It's a code red, I repeat code red!"
I dropped the apple, realizing that was Maddie's hospital room.
I ran up the stairs, to Maddie's room, to hear a loud unmistakeable beeping noise.
