You.

Jack felt like he couldn't breathe. Had Mark really just answered with that? More importantly, had Bob's plan actually worked?

septicsean: i'm sorry markimoo
septicsean: you know i wish i could visit you
septicsean: between school and living on my own i just can't afford it right now
septicsean: but i will soon don't worry

He put his phone face down on the desk. He didn't want to see Mark's reply. Jack knew very well what Mark actually meant, why had he answered like that? Why didn't he just respond with the truth? "I want you too, Mark?" It would've been that easy, and they could live happily ever after without anymore fucking problems.

mef95: Oh.
mef95: Yeah.
mef95: Yeah, no, that's okay. Don't worry about it. I don't really need anything, just send me a card or something.

septicsean: a card is lame
septicsean: are you sure you don't want anything else?

mef95: Yeah, I'm sure.

septicsean: okay

Mark couldn't believe what had just happened. He couldn't tell if he'd just been rejected, or if Jack had misunderstood. Jack was a smart guy, surely he knew what he'd meant, right?
As amazing as it would be for Jack to visit, it wouldn't feel right. He has a girlfriend.

mef95: Hi, my name is Mark. I'm a friend of Seán's. I just wanted to congratulate you two.

wiishywash: Oh, hi Mark! I've heard all about you, yeah. Thank you, that's really sweet, considering.

mef95: Considering?

wiishywash: How things are between you and him.

mef95: Things are fine...

wiishywash: I know! I'm just saying, the circumstances are a little off. Regardless, I appreciate the congrats

mef95: Uh, yeah, I guess. You're welcome.

wiishywash: Well, it was nice talking to you, but I have to go. Talk later?

mef95: I guess.

Mark could feel it. He could feel all the sadness returning, being placed upon his shoulders like a weight. All the bad feelings that had disappeared upon meeting Jack were coming back. Jack made him so happy, and now he didn't have Jack anymore. He couldn't even talk to Daniel, the boy had locked himself away, working on some 'crazy important video.' Mark was alone again.
