Professor McGonagall sat in her chair, tensely going through some papers. Her mind was all set on sending all students home after their examinations. Her eyes were drooping shut from sleep, yet she forced herself awake.
'No, I can't sleep.' she told herself.
Loud and rapid knocks on her office doors alerted her. 'Come in!' she responded worriedly. She watched the office doors as they parted to reveal Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy dragging what looked like a body bound in ropes and a giant cloth.
Both were extremely flustered and pale.
"Excuse me Professor, do you mind if we take a moment?" Draco asked, causing McGonagall to immediately stand up and walk over to the body.
"What is this!?" She asked, her eyes wide from shock.
"Professor, please give us a moment. We can explain it all." Hermione said.
"Okay, then explain please, miss Granger. I am terrified at this sight." She said calmly, glancing at an unconscious Professor Tuffets.
"Professor, we were on our duties when someone we couldn't see stunned us. We gained consciousness in an unfamiliar place. The man had tied, blindfolded and gagged us. He removed our blindfolds and told us that_" Hermione paused. She knew if she had to say anything further, the truth; that it was Draco and Hermione who had broken all rules that night and captured Remonsa Daques; had to be told to the Headmistress.
"That night when Remonsa Daques broke in," Draco said, "it wasn't Potter who captured her. It was us. I received a note from which asked me to see her in the Room Of Requirement and I took Hermione with me. It was all my fault. Please, don't expel her professor. Expel me instead. We requested Potter to save us and take the credit."
Professor McGonagall sat down, breathing deep. "I shall not expel you both if I get a valid reason for your actions." she declared.
"Professor, I was blackmailed into not handing the second note over and going to see her on my own. I was told the cost would be Zabini and Hermione's life." Draco explained.
"Alright Mr. Malfoy. Although I am angry at you, you surely meant well. I will not expel you, Please do continue."
"The man said that he had warned us he'd get us for anything wrong we did that night. Draco realized that Remonsa wasn't the leader of the Dark Lord Revival Community. It was him. He was about to kill Draco when he made the mistake of asking for his last words. Draco called his house elf and she stunned the man, unbound us and got us our wands. We unveiled the man, and to our surprise it was Professor Tuffets." Hermione explained.
"I can't believe this..." she mumbled to herself.
"They may be saying the truth. Just ask him." Dumbledore said calmly through his portrait, glancing at the bound traitor.
"What do you mean by 'ask him'?" McGonagall asked.
"Professor, Veritaserum. It's going to provide alot of answers, including the next plan of the DLRC, the hiding positions, the headquarters and so much more." Hermione said timidly.
"Great idea miss Granger! Who do you expect to brew it?" She asked.
"I can help. I'll explain the method, the ingredients and all. Miss Granger can brew it." Snape suggested.
"Yes." Hermione agreed.
"Very well. Go on."

(@ThePianist06 just brought to my notice that Veritaserum takes a full moon cycle to brew. While editing, I won't correct that mistake because it doesn't ruin the plot. I apologize for any misinformation, it's been years since I read the books.)                                                                                                                                *

Professor Tuffets was bound up and double tied to a chair now that he was conscious. There was a hustle and bustle, and the Veritaserum was almost ready.
This is how my loyalty has paid me off? he thought, sensing the ropes cutting through his wrists. I get captured by two teenagers?
"Professor McGonagall." the wretched Malfoy boy said, hesitating.
"Yes?"
"Veritaserum is ready." Hermione Granger said.
Tuffets tried to make up a story before all was gone.
"Minerva! I was under the Imperius Curse! They controlled me! I would never do such a thing on my own account." he lied.
"Veritaserum will prove it." The headmistress said, shooting daggers at the man she had apparently trusted.
"I swear Minerva! I swear upon Hogwarts_"
"Don't you dare swear on the school! Your lies and actions can not be reversed by blunt attempts at gaining the trust you broke into a thousand pieces!" McGonagall's voice was firm.
All is indeed gone. Tuffets thought, his heart sinking.

Well, that was quite a surprise, hmm?
