Cas woke up to an empty bed. He went down to his bookstore like he normally did every morning, but today something was different. It had been years since Naomi had stabbed Dean. Cas had been traumatized, he hadn't slept for weeks afterward. Now, he ran his fingers over the pendant that still hung from his neck. He still had nightmares about it. But Dean had survived, and that was what was important. He had, in the end, dropped out of college, but Cas had finished. He and Dean now lived above Cas' bookstore, and Dean was a mechanic. As he entered his store, he saw Dean standing in the middle of the room.

"Dean? What are you doing, don't you have work today?" Cas asked, confused. Dean shifted nervously.

"I was going to wait till tonight... It was going to be a big gesture... But I just can't wait," he said, and before Cas knew it, Dean was on one knee, pulling a small box out of his pocket.

"Castiel, will you marry me?"
